ok, just found out there's a slight problem to fit it on the E30. The sidewall in closer to the strut hole in the E30 compared to the E36 and E46. So would require to grind the plates on the side before fitting.
However, no issues on the E36 and E46..
I don't mean to detract from what Fabian's doing here, (or his sale of his e30 rear strut bar) just was reading and came across something that might be useful for e30 owners who're all :bawling: sad that fabian's top mount reinforcement doesn't quite fit their cars; but don't want to fit a strut bar because of collision damage fears, discotheque sub-woofers, etc.
Again, it's not that the strut bar doesn't have any advantages over whatever listed below... so this shouldn't be a reason not to get his strut bar if you were considering one already.
Sorry for the lengthy disclaimer : Don't want to seem rude for suggesting an alternative in someone's sale thread but I thought some consolation for the e30 drivers wouldn't hurt. Nonetheless, feel free to move/remove if this post is unwelcome, Fabian. Apologies in advance should that be the case. Anywayss.... a search on these forums turned up no previous mentions... so here we go.
BMW part #51718413359 is a similar reinforcement plate for the z3 rear strut. If what I've read is right, it's what BMW came up with to help address the common rear shock mount failure issue with the older designs, and should fit on the e30.

It's probably not as much direct-alternative as consolation for e30 owners. To fabian's credit, his 6mm plate is still a whole lot thicker than the above, or most of the other aftermarket ones I've seen online... so I think the e36 and e46 owners should ignore this post.
Fabian : I think you should offer to sell this item with your pillow-ball mount as a package
wouldn't they complement each other? If pillow-ball spherical bearings transfer more force to the rear tower sheet metal , I'm thinking reinforcement/dispersion would be a good thing? I'm just considering the kind of roads we have here.. And one last question.. If I grind away one side of the "ring" to fit the e30, would it mean uneven pressure/force transferred to each side of the suspension tower's metal sheet area? If so, would this have any ill effects in the long term? In all honesty ignorant and interested. Thanks.
