Hi friends.
Got my 330e early Oct.
Like to share some thoughts on it.
Since its my first bmw, I cant compare to others. In comfort and sport mode the torque and hp is very good, steering tightens in sport mode. Very steady making lane shifts and turns at high speed.
With RFT Pirelli 18" rim a little bumpy.. u know our malaysian roads laa. The tires are noisy too. But got used to it like music now.
Sun roof - my kid loves it, otherwise not so interested in that for me.
Audio system acceptable.

Things I dont like :
1. Cant watch video on the move (I know can coding)
2. Cant really find good public charging area. (most places dont have cable, must bring own cable but unfortunately our cable is for 3pin home port). Since I live in condo I have to live with max 50% charge all the time. Thats sad.
3. Every time I open the drivers door the engine stops, Its so difficult to stop for a while, with engine and aircon running for my family while I buy something in few min. Now whife has to jump into driver seat and restart it. so susah.

Otherwise I like the car. It has been my dream to drive a BMW since a kid.

Please share your thoughts and experience and if any ways to overcome the problems I mentioned above.

Cheers.

Well done in starting this new thread on 330e bro..... Hope it'll grow as the number of 330e owners trickle in.....

mikjoe;
If you need to watch video on the move without CODING -please buy the app from DVDInMotion.
The link is here http://dvdinmotion.com/.
Have you monitor the actual milleage for the 330e?. How is performance?

Wow the software costs almost RM750. Coding by our local guys about RM200 only
Where can I got the coding done? Do you have any contact? Please share

Good to hear that you like the 330e. There is a trick to forcing the engine to charge it to 80% instead to just 50% battery charge. You'll have to:
1) Set it to Save Battery setting
2) Switch the ride to Sports
3) Set the gear/transmission to M/S instead of D.

This will force the engine to charge the battery to 80%. Its best to do this when you are cruising instead of being in city traffic.

Regards

In other words...drive the car hard...keeping it high revs at most of the time (in sports & manual mode)..basically utilising more of your petrol energy converting into more electrical energy to charge the battery..this will increase your petrol consumption...to me, end result is still the same...Newton’s Law still prevails where energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but simply changes from one form to another

Hi, Great sharing.

However, I was able to charge the battery up to 93% by just cruising on the highway. It was on Battery saving mode, but I just leave the gear in D, no Sport Mode.

Except 330e, others also have battery indicator when we free the pedals, its show our fuel consumption goes to "charge"

Wat its mean actually???

From what I can gather, on non i-performance models, it charges up your battery to allow for auto stop/start and reduce the need for the engine to recharge the battery as well. At least this is my experience with the 318i. Any sifu can confirm?

My first BMW also. Just got it few days ago. Now trying to learn how to get the most from the car. Do share any tips here..

Yes agree with that. But if it was in Sport Mode the charging is much faster. I managed to charge up the battery from 53% up to 91% by driving around town in Sport Mode and the distance covered was about 26km.

Hi all,
Got my 330e for 1 month now.
Here's my review of the car (in my humble opinion):
1. Awesome acceleration. Can really feel the torque
2. Silent driving experience during electric mode. But tyre sound due to the road can be quite loud.
3. Spacious enough for my family. Expected it to be smaller initially. So it's now a plus point.
4. Charging is a problem, as I lived in a condo so always end up charging in the car wash bay.
5. Bluetooth sometimes doesn't connect to my iPhone. When it does, sometimes can't detect the info or Spotify.
6. Love the head up display especially during navigation. But maps not updated. Ended up using waze from my phone.
7. Headlight is too glaring. I get flashed countless times within this one month. No idea how to lower the light beam.
8. SAVE mode consumes more fuel compared when I run petrol on AUTO (high speed without letting the engine switch to electric). Not sure if this is true to all.
9. 5 year free services apparently doesn't cover gear oil. I wonder how much would that cost.

Overall: My 330e M sport drives like a dream. Always been my goal to get this car since many years back.

No.6. You have to let the car/system learns your route by ticking 'Learn Route' in iDrive menu. By doing this the new data will be transferred to BMW for them to eventually update the map according to the data collected. It works just like pave new routes in Waze something like that;

No.7 You can adjust the headlight by adjusting the 2 screws underneath your front hood which sit somewhere on top of headlights area. There are 2 screws; 1 for up n down and another for left and right.

No.8 Yes true. Thats the downside of this car since its heavier by 165kg compare to 330i so it sips more fuel without the assistance of electric motor.

No.9 It doesnt include the gear oil because BMW's principle for gear oil change is 'lifetime' means the gear oil doesnt need to be changed which to me it is totally craps!! According to BMW AG their 'lifetime' means 100,000 miles = 166,000 km but i dont understand why BMW Malaysia just excluded it from 5 years warranty. This was excluded ever since e46 age.
Just to share with you, i have changed my e90 320d gear oil in every 60,000km. It's 6 litres@rm90/litre using original ZF ATF. And please check your Rear axle oil as well. It's 2 litres @ +- RM 200 to 250/litre. all excluding labour charge and GST of course.

After driving this car 3.5 months, now I'm facing with re-occurring problem:

Drivetrain problem, that just reads "Drivetrain. Check soon."
Not sure if anyone else got this or not. I searched the entire web for common problem but this wasnt one of them.

First time: BMW AB just reset and the error was gone.
Second time: After charging, the error pops again. My car had to overnight for 3 days + over the weekend, with no loan car for me to use.
Apparently it's something to do with my hybrid battery. Loose connection or something.
Third time: Just after a week, the problem arises again, after charging for 2 hours (didn't do a full charge cause needed to use the car)

If anyone here knows what is going on... do share.
Apparently the AB service center is also clueless and just run many diagnostic until the error is gone.

Quite sad, really.

Actually for (3), there is a mini solution for it. Just give a kick to your accelerator pedal each time before you open the door and the car still stay running even though you opened the driver's door. If you want to conserve petrol, your wife or a passenger can switch the eDrive mode to Max eDrive then switch it back to Auto eDrive and the car will still be running without the ICE.
