Hey BWMCM.

Wanted to check, has anyone had any experience with the soft touch material peeling off and leaving all this sticky residue on the door pulls? I'm trying to find a way to restore this but I'm not sure of any workshop in KL with experience in getting this done? I've found the parts available online like a full set of the door pulls but I'm not sure who in KL is able to assist with being able to open the door trim to replace this without breaking the clips or messing something else up. Appreciate any input here.

Bro, if your car is still under warranty, go back to the SC n get them replaced under warranty.

Here are some excerpts from F10 Crew FB page:

For those out of warranty, the options available are:

1. Replace the door handle (which unprobably hv bought)
2. Rewrap the door handle

Option 1 - Replacement of interior door handle

Only the inside half of the interior door handle needs replacing. It is available for sale separately.

A new replacement door handle is sold at:
- SC - RM430/handle.
- Parts Stockist - RM375/handle (parts only)

The problem will recur after some time.

Option 2 - Rewrap the door handle with PVC

The door card is removed and then the door handle is removed from the door card. The rubber layer of the door handle is completely removed and the handle is cleaned. It is then wrapped in PVC that has a similar texture as the door card leather. PVC is used instead PU and leather because PU and leather are too thick. Leather is also significantly more expensive. The PVC last longer than the original soft touch rubber and can easily and cost effectively be replaced in future. The process takes 1/2 a day.

Although any reputable car interior shop can do the wrap, it is important that you go to one who has had experience dismantling the door card.

Some places that are able to rewrap:

1. Preferred Wheel in Glenmarie.

2. Central Car Cushion in Kepong.

3. Yap Cushion in Taman Mayang.

Else, you can DIY it too. Plenty of tutorials on Youtube that can guide you.

Had this problem on my E60 but wasn’t so bad. Apparently a common thing with bmw doors it seems. Didn’t expect f10 to have this issue also.

Thank you mod! Sorry wasn't aware of this FB page. Will get it done and upload results here for the benefit of anyone who may face this issue.

No worries bro. Its a sharing platform here. Looking forward to your documented experience here......

good luck!!

I got the same problem on the driver door handle. Rubber hardening and cracking off. Will have to replace the door handle soon. Lucky I have mine in black so its not so obvious. Any suggestions to the driver side door handle replacement?

I managed to get around doing it finally. May be a little OCD but got side-tracked and did some other minor touch-ups like the AC button, the auto-hold button and parking brake. Overall, really happy with the results. Feels good to be in the car again. Did it at Preferred Wheel in Glenmarie as per bro gendong's suggestion above.

glad u sorted them out bro. what was the damage incurred?

RM800 for all 4 doors to redo them with PVC. The 3 switches (parking, auto hold and blower fan control) cost me about RM280.
