I have made a thread to an F10 BMW M5 before, 3 months ago or so but can't find it :(

Anyways, I have got a picture with the rear bumper exposed!

The surprising spy photo reveals the typical quad exhausts with a sculpted diffuser... It looks a bit like an E60's rear but since the picture quality isn't that good, so I can't say much.

Don't ask me what's that blue canvas for but most likely to cover the other parts of the car. Spotted at the Garching Testing Facility, Munich...

Yeah. Cannot really put all the faults on BMW. If they really continuing the S55, then they will be having problems with the car might not be coming to the US and such due to the very strict C02 Emission. This V8 is a good solution, eventhough it really is sad to see the High-Revving motor to go away unless somehow BMW can make it more powerfull but less emission. They did that last year putting 2 turbos in it but it was unsuccessful and they have to discontinue it unfortunately.

lol actually looking at the e60's....im kinda worried once the m5 comes out...there is definitely going to be a huge influx of f10 with holes on their fenders....pearl white paint and black rims =(

Some important things to mention:

  • BMW will debut the new M5 in a concept form at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011.
  • The world premiere of the production version will be at Frankfurt show in September.
  • The next generation 2012 BMW M5 will be powered by a V8 turbocharged engine based on the same unit found in the BMW X5 M and X6M, the twin scroll twin turbo version of the N63, known as the S63.
  • The 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll powerplant will peak at 578-horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque.
  • The 0-62 mph dash should take about 4.4 seconds, even though I'm expecting to see lower times once driven.
  • Matted to a dual clutch transmission based upon the 7-Speed transmission currently found in the M3. Rumor is that an 8-speed unit will also be available and will be equipped with a Stop-Start control. The DCT will be operated with steering wheel mounted shifting paddles.
  • Extensive use of carbon-fiber and aluminum parts. Weight should be about the same as the E60 M5.

If this is indeed how the F10 M5 looks like, I will beg, steal and kill for one!!! It's HAWT!!! :)

wahhh the buff version of the e90 m3!

It's pretty obvious... Upon seeing some of the spy shots, I think the rear bumper + diffuser will be different and the V8 dome would not be featured. I'd say it's still too early to have the most correct rendering as we have still no idea what's underneath the heavy plastic fat body. Guess we have to wait until March only then we can get a clear clue of how's the car going to look.

Further information, the 2013/2014 F3X BMW M3 won't be featuring any saloon variant.

EDIT: The only person I can trust in this rendering business will be Jon Sibal... If anyone can get the most accurate, he will be the one.

Not much of an info, but Dr. Kay Segler confirmed that there will be a Ceramic Brakes available for the F10 M5, but no confirmation on whether it will be an option or standard... A little more, it is also confirmed that the KERS system will be ruled out for the F10 because of the extra weight. Sounds like an easily super expensive saloon when it reaches our shore.

Only 7 speed?

As what I heard, the 7-Speed DCT is definitely making its way to the car. The 8-Speed is yet to be confirmed thus classified as a romour. Those aside, what people on the other side of the world are worried now is the ''might'' loss of 6-Speed manual. But whatever, for what you need 8-Speed in a performance car? It will then non-stop changing from gears to gears!
