I have a problem with my Check Control Display. The following system fault will appear suddenly from the CCD and shows refer to "Owner's Handbook".1. ESD reglet2. Dip beam3. Break lit. circuitI checked the head lights and all the lightings are OK.I checked the break lights, OK.The message will go off after I turned OFF the engine for 0.5 hour.It will appear again or maybe not, when re-start.I realised that if I OFF the air-cond and radio, the Check Controlwill display the above message occasionally, and will mostly appear when the AC & radio on.I went to AH WAI (BM Wolrd). He said that the dip beam control switch (RM 60) and also the electric circuit panel??? (not so sure, quite big and looks like a connector) (secondhand RM 250) need to be changed. Add up total RM 310 xcluding labour charge. Asked for the prices only. Belum tukar lagi.......Anybody here had this experience? What is this ESD reglet means? :dunno: ALBUNDY, JARANCE or any SIFUs can help??  My ride is E34 M20B25 1990.

try post your problem here http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e34/

Iqmal > I will try to post it to ROADFLY. Thanks.
But, they are having a server problem at the moment
and unable to register as a new member there.

It seems like there is nobody who can solve the problem here in our
own BMW forum........

In reverse order,

Brake LT circuit could mean one of three things:

1) Your CCM is cocking up. Unlikely.
2) Your brake switch (under the brake pedal is getting faulty), replace it!.
3) You put a different bulb in the brake circuit and the CCM detects lower voltage than it should be. This is likely if you changed a bulb recently in the brake lights or 3rd stop light.

Dip Beam. If you Lo-beams and Hi-beams works fine. Then it is the CCM /LKM going crazy. More likely the LKM since it has the relays for headlights/fogs. Look into www.bmwe34.net for the solder fix. I have done it before and works, although I never got a Dip Beam message, Just Brk LT circuit.

Reget is a German language. Change the language to Engish and this could mean "Check Control" . Its the result of the messages of your (2) and (3) problem. Once you fixed those, it will ALL go away. Others might appear but for a different reason.
Good luck.

For break light, I have changed the 3rd stop light several months ago.
Have to check whether it is under voltage or not.

My Lo-Hi beam is OK.

Yesterday and today, the Check Control didn't display anything.
No fault. It may appear later again but don't know when la....

BTW, you mentioned CCM / LKM. What are they?
Is it costly to change? :dunno:

You know Deutche language ka?

If the Check Control is not complaining then things appear OK again. It may just be poor electrical contact on the brake switch. Happens often in these cars.

Nothing to replace , unless it is really broken. The picture of the LKM module Mr Lima posted maybe something, you can unplug, clean the contacts with alcohol and plug it back. Oxidized contact points can cause varying volts to the CCM and causes "strange" messages on the display. As long as the lights and things works, you are OK.
:yahoo:

Thanks Bros E34ET & Iqmal for your advices. :eek:k:

Wah....this workshop guy really want to make money eh..
Change a thing is much more easier for him rather than cleaning it
and some more can make better money... :aggressive:

Will try to clean-up those contacts this weekend.

Being Engineer, it's fair . People have to pay for my skill.

Price is subjective.

You have to pay for technology either it's proven good or not.

Skill mean money.

Send to mechanic mean pay for his skill+part+labour, at the end it all about try and error even this normal in high end technology.

Rely on machine to diagnose for some fault it's ok but still human built it ,never perfect.

Adviced from Bro E34ET, saved my pocket money of a few hundreds RM.

I just unplug, blew off some dust on the board and plug back the LKM tightly. Thats all.....

All the funny2 messages on the Check Control does not appear again.

Sometimes these mechanics want to make easy untung.
For them, change something means more income to their pocket.
And...... the car's owner pocket empty liao..... :aggressive:

So, thanks again to the Sifus here....

E34EuroTouring, this is really useful information.

bmwe34.net says the brake switch for RHD car is on the passenger side of the car... but you wrote above that it's under brake pedal. Which one is it? I have yet to open up the plastic panel above the brake yet to check... Thx.

bmwe34.net brake switch:

RHD car have the switch on the opposite side-passenger side (left hand side). the switch is not located on the brake pedal.
