Engine Overhaul

Hi guys, My engine oil keeps dropping even though i changed it to thicker oils. My workshop tried using the oil system treatment but it only works for awhile. Are there any other ways to fix it besides overhauling the engine? =(

bro is it dropping without any leaking?i to is facing engine oil level drop..need to top up freq. using 5w40. i couldn't see any visible leaking. friends told me that the there might be a gap at the piston causing the oil to burn..

this is due to the overheating engine and water go in the engine (as what mech told)
very bad n very sad
did changed the radiator fan but ok for a while only

need experts advice here.

check termostat on engine and radiator...radiator maybe blocked...

Thats what we call blown head gasket bro. If its true then dont wait go get it done quickly otherwise you might need a new engine soon

Hi pdot. As Azmi318 has quoted my post at the service cost thread, I would also like to point out a few points in case you are not clear.

Engine overheating can cause "water consumption" as the oil cooler is broken and cause coolant to sip into engine, do check your entire cooling system e.g. radiator, fan, belts, water pump, expansion tank, hoses etc as its quite a common problem with the E46. You might end up spending more than me as I have a different problem, more towards the thread starter's experience (very high engine oil consumption, emitting white smoke). Do get it check asap as you might further damage the engine if left unfixed.
