Engine Oil Sludge

I think members here have also experienced such problems see http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16432&highlight=sludge Therefore as I have advised a friend recently, if u intend to keep ur car beyond 3 years, pls ditch the BMW 25k km service recomendations and change ur oils every 10-12k kms!

Exactly, change the engine oil at the interval of 10k km preferably if one is using fully synthetic oil.

.. and by the way the OBC oil change indicator is set to only lit at 30k km. Not 25k km..

My E90 is 15 months now but odo is only 20k km. SC refuse to perform BSRI oil change for me despite there's a service bulletin that says for low mileage car, oil change must be performed on every 12 months.

I wrote to BMW Malaysia quoting the service bulletin number, they ask me to check with SC.. and I'm pretty sure if I write to BMW AG, they will ask me to check with BMW M'sia.. so its a waste of time..

I was informed by AB that for E90 the free oil change is as per the BSRI or 2 years whichever comes first.

AB recommends the E46 to be serviced as per the OBC @ 25000km @ every year.

So guys if u love ur ride, ditch the AB service interval and change ur oil every 10000km or if u are still goin back to AB, go in for a oil change at the halfway point ie 12500km at ur own expense.

I do about 16000km per year, so I change my oil(Mobil 1 5w-50) every 6 months/8000km.

My car runs very smoothly and starts at the first crank.

my advice is , ditch the 25K km service even your car is new from AB. It wont void the warranty for changing engine oil and oil filter.

change every 10k for syn oil.

most mechanic also says so. and they are not desperate for your biz as labour charges is usually RM20 only for changing engine oil.

try auto-rx

I have been keeping mine happy with auto-rx, the engine cleaner.
regular oil change will reduce sludge but will not keep it away.

Seriously, this is one of the best products in the market. but slightly pricey.

A engine that have regular oil change DO NOT require any engine cleaner.

Engine cleaner is corrosive in nature which if used to often, will cause swelling and hardening of rubber seals. Use only when necessary.

Auto-rx is not the typical 5 min quick flush kerosene products. it is all natural.
It cleans while u drive.:top:

Just change the oil outside no need to reset.Like what i did for my new LR.Only every 20k go to the SC.

I have done my 1st BSRI at the SC and got my oil change meter reset. It now reads 40k km till next oil change! :stupid:
