Dear Sifus. The EML light keeps turning on randomly. Any reason why? Car still in the workshop. Been there for more than a year. Since then have changed the gearbox(rebuilt), engine(from Lionel)(cylinder head cracked), and throttle actuator. The mechanic thought after changing the actuator, it would be fixed but started up yesterday and the EML light on again. But later the evening it is ok. What else could be the problem? Can't drive with the DML lights on as no throttle control. My car 1999 523i M52TU. Please help....

Only 2 reasons for this
1. No money to repair the car
2. Workshop got problem to find the spare part

Damn bloody difficult to find a M52 double vanos engine.
Car in KK. Everything also have to ship.
First was the gear box. Then later found out cylinder head cracked. Then engine hunting. Then the EML lights came on. From then on it was a hunt for where the problem is...

Still have the EML error. Still say that the Throttle actuator error. But just changed that. A few days after the change no error then suddenly got.

Mechanic suspect it is the ECU. Anyone have experience? How much is a used ECU?

just faced the same problem with urs. The car actually is my friend's workshop. After change the DME then everything works fine. But at the same time EWS need to replace as well. It comes with 1 set. As i know more than RM1k

I had the same problem with my e39 last year. I changed my throttle actuator and mass sensor. The problem persisted. Finally, discovered that it was the wiring harness....costs me RM250 only ..

what was the problem with the wiring harness? Which wiring harness?

Does that mean that your throttle actuator was not faulty?

it is the wiring harness that connects the throttle housing assy to the DME. There are ten wires..two of them kaput on mine. Yeah...my throttle actuator nothing wrong..so i have a spare one..lol

Damn. Like that better not throw away the throttle actuator that I just changed. Will get my mech to look at the wiring harness. Hopefully it is that.

Found out that one of the connector pin at the ECU broke. damn. Now looking for a used ECU.

If you change ECU then will change the EWS at the same time and is meaning change the keys at the same time.
I only able to help ppl to change EWS which can code the old EWS to new change EWS with same eeprom.
Until now i still testing how to sync new EWS to ECU. Inpa scanner got sync function but dont have car for me to test now.

If change keys then need to send back to Auto Bavaria?
In this condition if you send back to Auto Bavaria makes the key then for sure the key not able to start the car.
Normally if you buy the ECU it will comes with EWS and possible take the key and the lock as well. If not you have to find local locksmith to make the key.
