sorry newbie here. so many questions to ask. May i know what mode does one switch on that is best for the condition of the car. I put it on comfort mode all the time but do not actually know how it works. My sa only tells me its more comfortable and good for city driving. What if i switch to sports mode, does that effect or compromise on the durability of the car suspension.. or if i put it on eco pro, what mode will it be using ..comfort or sports. Still not sure how eco pro functions. So confuse again, thanks everyone

Bro natalie,

Is there any difference on the suspension comfort level on differrent mode? Been getting different info from duff SA hehehe..eyeing on f30 eventhough still enjoying my e90 very much :top:..

Natalie,

ECO PRO Mode helps you to drive especially efficiently. As soon as you select the consumption-friendly ECO PRO Mode fitted as standard using the Driving Experience Control, the intelligent system goes into action and – depending on your individual driving characteristics – enables you to reduce fuel consumption.
ECO PRO Mode gears everything towards maximum reduction of consumption: accelerator pedal and gearbox parameters as well as shift points are all optimised. The heating/climate control strategy is adapted to achieve optimum consumption. On the Control Display you can read how ECO PRO Mode is actively lowering energy consumption.

ECO PRO tips advise you on how to drive more efficiently – it m ay for example recommend that you accelerate moderately. Which saving potentials are implemented is for you, the driver, to decide. Following the ECO PRO tips will enable you to achieve a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 20%*. The bonus range in the on-board computer shows you exactly how many additional kilometres you can now drive.

Natalie,

In relation to your question as to whether sports mode affects / compromises the durability of the car suspension, note that BMW Malaysia does not offer the adaptive M suspension option with the current generation of the F30s offered, which means that any mode changes will not affect the handling / ride characteristics of the car. Notwithstanding, the durability / reliability of a car suspension can be gravely affected by other factors.

In this case, switching between the modes should not affect the longevity of the F30's suspension, suffice to say.

My 2 cents worth.

In short, switching between the modes will change the throttle respond and the steering weight (from my experience). There is no change to the suspension. Naturally, aggressive driving will do more damage to your car than normal driving. Enjoy your ride and at the same time, drive responsibly!

Thanks for this info. I had thought that Sports mode will stiffen the suspension and lower the car slightly.

thats F10, but grey F30 may have this

Just switch around with the modes and find the one that you like la.

Difference is just accelerator pedal response/sensitivity and steering weight.. having said so, be careful of Sport+ because I think it shuts off the vehicle dynamic stability control to allow drifting without electronic driving aid intercepting.. :8:

Have fun exploring! :4:

Sport + is not fully switched off right? the system allows you some play before coming in. i remember making the ESP led blink once or twice.

Haven't tested that Sport+ to the extreme yet. Anyone has any experience to share? Jenny? Was your situation intentional or accidental? My guess is that the machine allows you some rubber burning. Sorry, I'm inexperience in this area.

thank u everyone. Yes u're right about the +sport..my sa said its good for drifting etc... Im still unsure how the eco pro functions works..but I may not use it much as I have to switch off the ASS each time i turn on eco pro..and after a while on eco pro, the ASS automatically switch back on . I havent really monitor the fuel consumption either but on comfort mode..I think it uses up comfortably around 550km for a full tank of about RM85 to RM90. Thanks

Have you tried it? I frequent played with my E90 DSC settings.. when it's off, it's off. The E90 has 3 DSC modes. Full DSC, DCT and OFF.

DSC is the default mode with electronic driver aids fully functional to keep the car and it's occupant safe.

DCT is for limited slippage actually primarily designed for icy/slippery road use. It allow a greater degree of slippage in order for the car to move because on icy roads if DSC keep intercepting, the car can hardly move. We use it to do power drift and the system only intercept if we exceeded certain drift angle. Quite fun actually.. :4:

OFF is when there's a big warning sign with a big exclamation mark in a triangle. Driver aids totally shut off. Perfect for donuts.. :top:

it was my Touch n Go moment. haha..

i was queuing for my turn at the Touch n Go lane. its a long queue so i fiddled around with the i-Drive. i switched to Sport +. slight murmur in engine sound/ growl (as if, it is acknowledging me that the car ready for launch). as i crawl towards the toll booth, i continued playing with the i-Drive knob. my turn, i tapped my card, watched the bar go up.

stomped on the accelerator, ESP light blinked a coupe of times.

speedo = 130km/h
me = smiling

slowed down and switched to normal mode. adrenaline. thats why i love the 328i.

Does the tyre slips or the blinking means ESP is activated? Haven't test it out yet.
