After seeing the new Msport F30 pics, my butt itchy liao. No way i can afford a new F30 335i, but a CKD 328 might be within reach next year. My q is..have any current 335i owner done research on the new f30 328? in real world driving and NSH, is the new 328 a downgrade or upgrade?lets leave aside interior goodies and exterior...just power and drivability...would a 335i owner feel....cheated? in a F30 328i just been pretty busy, no time to go actually test myself yet...also scared if i go i get poisonedView attachment 25896

I would think a 3.0 turbo and a 2.0 would be a lot of difference no? Have to admit the f30 is a nice looking car no doubt.

I've tested the F30 328i. Frankly, I didn't like the sound of the engine.

Powerwise it's hard to compare as I can't really remember how it was like when my 335i was still stock.... The F30 328i has decent power, but I think it's still some ways down from even my heavy E93 335i (stock vs stock from memory). Even though the 0-100 times suggest that they aren't that far.

I like the looks, the interior, the extra space etc.... But in the end, I passed on the 328i

BTW, Ryou, are you the one who did the M3 control arms/subframe conversion at Obermaier ??

I tested the F30 328i.. pretty impressed by the power and torque of the car,tho engine refinement and sound is another thing altogether.I would say a well driven stock F30 328i would have no problems keeping up with a e9x 335i in normal traffic.Once the road opens up tho,I think the 335i will obviously open up a sizeable gap.
Ryou,I was actually in ur state of mind as well when it came to the F30 328i vs my e90 335i..other than the engine and gearbox, the F30 trumps the e90 hands down.I just can't get past the fact that I'll be downgrading from a sublime inline6 twin turbo to a rather clattery inline4 turbo.

Once I test drove the 328i,it was game over for the F30 328i.

Conclusion(for me at least),wait till the F30 335i becomes affordable.. hell,even the new V6 tri-turbo M3 comes to mind;)

great..thks guys, saves me the trouble of going to the dealer, looks like my trusty e92 will have to tahan another year or 2 till the recon f30 335 arrive. Or maybe PR win in September and we can all get F30 335i at rm190k

my car is pretty stock still...just dont really see the need to mod it yet. Changed rims cos i destroyed my tire on a manhole in DP, and poisoned by speedline. changed rotors cos the ori ones were rusty, and a set of KW V2..thats it

I hope the M Sport F30's will come with the adjustable suspension. Currently right now they don't ha be that feature available for our models.

F30 335i at rm190k and no one will be buying our E92 unless we sell the rims and give the car away free hehe.. I too test drove the F30 328i , and made my other choice a no brainer. the 4 cylinders just doesnt do it for me. Good for aunty driving though. and dont even think about the F30 320d, what a rip off, small idrive, no electric seats, blah blah blah...... the Msport o version is the definite version to get for sure. hold on for one more year, the Msport F30 335 should reach our shores with reasonably pricing =) and then, we might see what the new F32/F82 looks like ( replacement model of our cars)

Power: 335's 3.0L turbo produces more power than 328's 2.0L turbo (302bhp vs 242bhp). Infact F30 335 is using the same engine as E92 335.
Drivability: naturally a more powerful and lower riding coupe (125mm) provides more driving pleasure than a less powerful and higher riding (140mm) 4-dr sedan.

On those dimensions, the F30 328i is comparable to the E90 330i.

Of course la durian is stronger smelling and more durable than rambutan..
