E60 Front Left Knocking Sound

2007 E60 525i M sport, my mech has done a complete check and is unable to identify the cause of the noise. He even re-tightened the entire front end and it was OK for few weeks and the noise has restarted.I usually hear the noise when the car is being reversed, the steering turned to 20* angle and the wheel hits the road from the kerb. Same happens when I drive forward, there is a thud sound appears to becoming from left corner of the dash.Its really irritating.......Appreciate your views.

Hi, my e60 msport appearing "taktak" sound & suspect the sound from front left bonnet. went car accessory shop but cant rectified it.
the sound appear when drive on uneven road/ road bumper.
Need help...

My E39 had such symtom like what you guys are mentioning bove. It was fixed!

Ok, it was always happenning when I turned my steering leftward around 20 degree while driving (like JKP issue) and produced a 'knocking' sound from the front left. But it happened only when the car speed was around 40km/h or during parking. I went to few shops to find out the problem but no one was able to tell. Most of them told me that my steering rod kaput that needed to change.

Finally, I went to a tyre shop to change my tyres and asked for 4 wheel alignment. Guess what, that sound totally disappeared!!!

So, I beleive that sound has to do with the wheel arm or anything tied to the front wheels. Perhaps, you guys can ask tyre shop to check on these things. Touch wood, this is not happenning to my E60.

My car was even worse ......
after change d part....full satisfaction.....

Finally the "tak....." sound solved.
Its FREE of charge.

just tighten the round-head screw near to the bonnet hinges...now can rev like hell w/o sound
