hey bros and sifus, my mum finally got herself a 523i SE from BPS Glenmarie (which also means i can finally join the club as an official member :top:) Mum is an excellent driver but a bit lacking in technical knowledge, so to cut a long story short basically i would like to ask you all your personal ownership experience and any typical E60 problems. btw, even if i become a member no way in hell will i be showing up to club TTs in mum's car because she hides the key from me  thanks in advance guys

vish dude:
hope u'll be cool like yer mum when u grow up..:)

anyway, from my own 1sthand experience on my e60 525i:
1.) Rubber seal (both front & rear windscreen) got brittle and cracking.. so u'd better take care of it with some kind of rubber protector or somethin'..
2.) Transmission - lately the car jerks just before makin' a full stop

other than that, it's a BEAUTIFUL ride. good luck finding that keys!

:)

Shocking !! I was recently told by my workshop that specialises in BMW & Merc, some BMW mechanical items are almost double the price of the equivalent Merc's ones.

But are the fast running parts like brake pads and discs much different ?

Just changed my Merc W211 E Class rear discs for RM235x2; pads for RM225 per set and sensors for RM25.

Voltan,

E60 rear brake pads, sensor plus labour charges will be about RM800 if you go to the big 4 - AB, Sapura, Ingress or Quill...

If you go to other workshops, it would be much cheaper...first of all the labour charge is about 50% or less, the price of the parts is less and of course in this case if the sensor is still working u dont have to change it really... :)

if you're absolutely sure that the oil filter is ori then it does sound pretty reasonable bro

I got e60 523 se exactly similar more than 2 years already so far ok. Please seek advice from AB if you u want to top up the engine oil coz this model iis using special shell helix distributed by AB only.
