Buying used/2nd hand auto gearbox is always a risk, some say depends on your luck. Whatever you may want to believe, used gearbox (unless you know the history of the car) would be unreliable as compared to if you were to do a complete overhaul of your old/defective gearbox. In terms of pricing, a used one would be somewhere similar to if you were to do a complete overhaul. .
Normally its only the valve body that have problem but if after u replace it n it still jerk than you would hv to replace it. I hv enquiry before a used or recond set cist around 9k ++ including labor.
Anyone can enlighten me on how to solve my gearbox showing symptom of breaking down. When car slow down back to 1st gear it knocks. Could it be gearbox oil need to change? I read before somewhere 1 year need to change.
Asked my mechanic, he told me with labour overhaul it also need cost about rm12k. That is really expensive. Perhaps any good solutions towards it? Thanks
My question is how reliable/trust worthy is your mechanic? I find it rather over priced to overhaul a e60 gearbox for RM12k as the market price should not exceed RM 6K. My next question is : In what way or any diagnostic test being done to confirm that your GB needs an overhaul?

Hi bro's
Is it really necessary to overhaul back the gearbox since changed the gear oil also no use. Mechanic said not because of solenoid, sigh
My mech quoted me RM9000 overhauled it. Like bro herbert said, it is way overpriced. Any good workshop can recommend me? Starting dislike my mech already. Huhuhu.
The diagnostic is base on his instinct saying experience if changing it. My car changed the oil now better but still once awhile got the knocking sound.
Spent alot maintaining this car, dont really want to let it go. Sentimental values now.. Haha. It is a great i drove
Kedai Ah Lai PKL ni terlalu banyak kereta... setiap kali ku pergi mesti full.... sampai ada staff dia suruh gi kedai panjang kat next door utk service kereta... very good bisness...
Herbet.. kedai panjang tu okay ke? Dekat cermin opis dia ada tampal sticker bmwcm
The other workshop (kedai panjang) also belongs to Ah Lai of PKL as he is the major shareholder. Lelaki panjang (minor shareholder) is very experienced with BMW engines including auto gearbox. BTW, Ah Lai is an OM of the club (nickname PKL).
