I just called AB. They said from my records, the serial numbers for the parts constituting the M-Technic sport suspension as fitted to my car show that the correct parts were fitted.

I'll drop by their place to get them to inspect the suspension.

Or maybe I could meet up with you guys (eg. those who have the same suspension set up) for TT and do a comparo...? Only if it's convenient, of course.

Wait a minute... you're on 16" rims and yet you're complaining that the ride is stiff?! Hmmm... bring the car round to your mechanics, jack it up and have a good look at all your suspension parts! God knows, maybe they stuck the wrong springs on your car, maybe they in put the 4 cylinder setup instead? Is that possible? I don't know! But best to check it out!

Ummm... as for aftermarket suspension putting more "stress" on your chassis... well, what do you think the lowered and stiffened M-technik setup is doing to your chassis right now? If something goes "pop", and you're out of warranty, you're gonna have to rely on goodwill (if you want to get a free repair), regardless if you're on M-techniks, Bilsteins, Eibachs, whatever...

5k for springs + shocks + anti roll bars is really rather steep... I can speak from personal experience, a 2k Eibach/Bilstein setup is more comfortable, better damped and more in control of your cars' mass than the M-technik... that was on my 330 which came, from the factory, with M-techniks.

Sorry.

But there is a solution: bitch and moan.

For 5k, you DESERVE to get something that makes you happy, that you want. Bitch and moan until you get it. Do not take "no" for an answer. You'll be suprised what you can get away with the service advisors/ technicians... after all its not their company not their bottom line at stake. I've got a friend who managed to bitch and moan his way to free; suspension bushes/mounts (front), engine cam cover, radiator fan, full auto transmission, i think even the exhaust tips, for not being shiny enough. Now, don't go quoting me, but just to let you know that it can be done.

Good luck.
I agree with The Necc. Better geddit checked and be completely satisfied that everything is in place. Better be safe than sorry.

One thing is for sure, with more extreme lowering, the center of gravity of the car lowers giving better feel to the driver. However, there are obvious downsides to more extreme lowering, which is less suspension travel, and impracticality esp when you have to shuttle grown up customers/adults and navigating bumps, and underground car park. I've been there before in my ex-car and it was embarassing to leave my front bumper lip at a basement car park in KL. Swore to myself no more of that, unless its for a weekend car instead of a daily driver.

So far I am very pleased with the M Technik setup. Absolutely no complaints from handling and practicality point of view.

Moral of ther story is.... everything is relative to your point of view and personal preference. Something that is hard for you may be comfortable for someone else.

But the main Moral of the Story is DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING from AB.

They don't know jackshit and they they have no idea what they are talking about.

And any chance they get, they will slag off 3rd party parts to scare you off into buying stuff from them.

Can some kind souls post a pic of Mtech w/ 18" setup and a pic of Eibach w/ 18" setup ? Side view pls. Want to see how low it drop and can fit in how many fingers ...

My ride taken with 18"s and M techs off a crappy phone camera

To those of you who have fitted M-Technik sport suspension to your E46 325i (pre-facelift), here are the M-Technik sport suspension parts' serial numbers stated in my invoice:

31331093084
31351094542
33329415350
33531095711
33551094545

Do they tally with your parts' serial numbers (assuming you have them)?

33551094545 look more like a normal E46's 19MM REAR STABILIZER BAR part number to me. My non m-tech stock bar also come with that part#.

I checked that with the online etk.

Your car's a facelifted E46. Mine's pre-facelift. I understand that the facelifted E46 has 20% firmer suspension than the pre-facelift E46. Could it be this was achieved by inter-alia fixing thicker rear antiroll bars for the facelifted E46? My car's original rear antiroll bar is not as thick.

Happened to come across this.

Anyone know if Lee solved his problem with the M Tech suspension?

Just saw this thread too ....

Side-track a bit, anyone know know of potential issues with just MTech springs only on a stock shocks & ARB's ? Sat in a forummer's car with this set-up (& 18" wheels) and it seems fine

I am using MTech springs on stock shocks and arb and I think it satisfies my need for a slightly lowered car but with not much loss to comfort. I was using Eibach before and it was hard. I hated it.

Last few weeks, I used SpyGames car for a few days which is an E46 318 2.0 MSport that came with MTech kits. The handling was superior to my car but it is harder. SpyGames on the other hand used my car and notice a different level of comfort.

I guess, it is up to a personal preference, handling + sporty or comfort.
