E46 Loud metal knocking sound from the back

Hi there guys..

My 2003 e46 320i has a loud sound from the rear when i engage the gear to reverse (R) or drive (D) and press the accelerator.
Few foreman says its not the bushing, but its the long shaft.
Is this true? If it is, why is the sound being created?
Kindly explain to me and give me your best advise.

U need to check the rear differtial bushing... e46 already past it time to change the bush...

does the whole car body shaking also? if so your flexi disc or guibo worn out and also replace the shaft bearing

Is long shaft, is time to change coupling

you can check wheel bearing as well.. maybe dah haus.. if you havent change any probably its time..
