Dear All,Hope that you all can help me. I have a E46 318 2.0 which I bought 3 months ago. Now the rear speaker board is making the cracking noise which is making me crazy. Moreover, I also hear 'Chi Chi' noise somewhere either the front passenger or the rear left hand side. Cannot confirmed. The noises are from interior and not exterior. The question is where is a good place to fix the rear speaker board? Which workshop or shops to go to whereby their workmanship is good and cost less. The other question is, any idea where the 'chi chi' noise, which sounds like rat, coming from? Sounds like from the blower, but after switching off the a/c and blower, the noise is still there. Thought is the window lifter, but by lowering the glass, the sound is still there. Not seat belt buckle noise nor center console. Just do not know where?? This is seriously driving me up to the wall. Please help! :confused:Can please let me know which workshop is good at tracing and tracking noises.Thank You so much.

he....he...he...he.....the noise of rear speaker board is common issued for e46, so live with it. Saya dah pun 2 tahun listen to that additional sound when I'm listened to my radio or CD. Lama2 ok lah tu...

Maybe u could try putting the fader of your sound to come out from the Front speakers only..
I do not face this issue.. I've disconnected my rear speakers and am using the front speakers + a single sub.

The "chi chi" sound comes from the door rubber. You need to lubricate it so it will go off. But only last u for 3months. Done that at M1. But after 3months, da sound return. According to the mechanic in M1, that's da common issue to E46. Probably other Bros here can share.

Dear bro,

Thanks for the reply. The 'chi chi' sound is coming from interior passenger side, like some fan turning noise, it does not sound like rubber, but the frequency follows the uneven road. Everytime, the chi chi noise will come out once travelling on too many uneven roads.

i am surprise to hear most of you have the rear speaker panel noise, i thought i'm the only one :p

The front chi chi sound, mine is the passenger door rubber strip just under the glove box there, something was loose there. The other front sound is inside the glove box that i fail to solve yet, but i suspect is the glove box hydraulic lift arm sound.

I would like to thank all of you for your valuable feedbacks. When we have problems, we should be able to share. This is very important. I am planning to send my car to Civic Auto Accessories in Maluri, Cheras for the rear speaker noise. They are able to cushion the speaker board. As for the chi chi noise, will try to check on the rubber.

Thanks everybody for the help.

haha. Im also experience the same. Sounds like coming from blower. Some window lifter also sound vibrating when fully up. But when lower the window a bit, the sound disappear. Or else the sound wil disappear when driving under rainy condition. Maybe sound disappear when all the rubber become well wet.

Finally, I caught the rat. The 'chi chi' noise came fron the rear ashtray, not the blower. If it is the blower, then the chi chi frequency will follow the speed of the fan, but mine did not. The sound was still there even though I turned the blower off. Therefore, this confirmed it was not from the blower. I was trying to locate it for so so long cause it gets on my nerves everytime I drive my car. By removing the REAR inner ashtray, the sound disappear. Will try a few days to confirm. As for your window noise, krack krack on uneven road, you need to use 3M silicon spray and spray on the door rubber which has velvet ONLY and it will disappear. Spray along and follow the velvet till the end. It has been 2 months now and no noise from all doors. As for the rear speaker panel, you can reduce or eliminate the noise by folding double sided tape and insert it between the board and the plastic louver, it will reduce the noise. The more you insert, the lesser the noise. Try it!
If you need some pic, will try to assist on that.
