E46 ---> e39

Dear E39 Sifus,Need some advice. Plan to upgrade in term of size n series but downgrade on its market value n age. Currently im drivin a 2003 E46 325 (sedan) but saw a 1998 E39 540 for sale. Cheap n i like the alpine white. Wondering if i should or can i go for it? Wats the maintaence like? Or more expensive becos its a V8? No sure which engine it is, the M62B44 or the newer one M62TUB44? Wat r the things or telltale signs that i need to look for? Wat r the reoccurrence problems u guys face on a E39? Thanks...Cheers

hello.
im currently driving an e39 (which is to be sold soon), and originally planning on swapping my engine to m62 also.
was also wondering about the problems this engine might have.
