E46 - "Beep" before starting engine

Hi All,Just curious... When I switch on the key there is this "beep" sound which come on prior to cranking. What is this beep sound for ?? What difference does it make if u crank before and after the beep sound stops ?? Is there such sound with your rides ??Rgds,

I've gotten that a few times also but have never figured what it was beeping about.

my ride is so called "Japan spec" which comes with this beep sound. I am not sure whether local or "UK" spec. are having this "feature" ?? or some other "Japan spec" oso dont have this ??!!

Well, the Japanese, you know, are a more polite society than most. So, well, maybe they've programmed all Jap Spec BMWs to say "hi".

If the beep is not affecting your ride in any way . . . just forget & live with it lah brother.

Mine's a Jap specs. Before the car starts, it beeps a couple of times. I'm very sure mine's the seatbelt indicator. If seatbelt is engaged, no beep sound and vice versa.

Beep ? No beep on normal starts.

Beep is heard when there is a fault e.g. light bulb failure, low washer water, low petrol, etc ... it accompanied by some light on the dash

mine ckd also.. turning, before crank, got beep = hi.. when switch off, also got beep=bye..
