Hi, I found that while my mech changes spark plug for my engine, one of the spark plug (threaded part) contain oil. My mech said something leak but I not so understand on the technical part. Is it a leak from engine? Please advise or share your opinion. Is it costly to solve this leak?

if ur spark plugg has oiled, i believe it becoz of ur tuning problem especially when u start ur car...more "juice" than air...leaking? there is too many posibility to get leaking..have u check ur engine properly? is there any leaking anywhere?

sparkplug soak with oil might have few reason, it i am not mistaken, might be due to engine valve cover or you overfill your engine oil, or etc

if overfill it should be loads of white smooke come out from ur exhaust sytem..

Not overfill. Forgot what its called. Need to open the valve cover. Every plugs inlet on the valve cover has a seal to prevent oil from the head escape to the spark plugs inlet. When its harden, oil will seep through. Mechanic normally will apply loads of sealant before fitting the valve cover. I believe OEM fitting is without sealant. With sealant, the rubber seal harden also no need to change.... until its brittle and give way.. :D Malaysia cheap maintenance style! :top:

Confirm no white smoke from exhaust ya? If got white smoke or wet/oily tail pipe, then replace your valve seal at one go.

If running on tight budget, no need to bother except toping up of engine oil once the level is too low. Again, cheap Malaysian maintenance way.. :p

how much will it cost to fix the leak? only apply sealant no need change valve cover?

Not sure about BMW engines, but I know you can actually get the oil seals for spark plugs. I change the spark plug oil seals together with the valve cover gasket for my other car (Korean only...). BTW, I changed this gasket when the mileage hit 100,000km because it started to leak. Not like our BMWs which start to leak oil after only hitting 25,000km :motz:
