guys.can this be done?transplanting a e36 3.2 litre m3 engine into an e46 318ci car?just curious?what are the areas to look into?or shall we go with the e46 m3 or the 330ci transplant, or the 2JZ way?cheers!

V8!!!!!!!

seriously, the issue is the wiring interface with the instrument cluster. if that can be sorted out, then no issue to put in the engine.

or do like one of the E46 318ci, outside look exactly like an M3 complete with the hood, side sill and flared rear arches but 318i engine.... ;) and 19inch RD rims.

exterior mods look cool but no grunt lah fabian. kena bawak very slow and cannot tekan. this fun will only last a short while. then u become very frustrated.

what if plonk in a e36 3.2 m3 engine and use the following:
- external rpm
- external speedo
- external water temp
- external oil temp

would it work bro?

Do you also have to consider other things like brake and body structure strengthening? All the power without the stopping force is going to be a problem.

Cheaper to turbo-charge the 318 to get about 240HP on 12 PSI boost. That will give it more torque than the previous generation 330i. Its the cheapest way to more more HP, and fry the clutch at the same time... get the M3 clutch installed and you are set.
