E39 Remote Key Replacement

bro's n sifus,what is the cost of replacing e39 remote key ? my key casing badly worn off. is there any shop selling it's cover ? can we buy second hand from ebay and change the key blade ? Please advice. btw my E39 prodution date is 09/98. Thanks

hahh..unlucky la u, wat i know, if u want to change the key, u need to pay 1k to auto bavaria and submit the car reg card and so on ducument..so receh one..for detail may be u can ask from AB.

i just change mine to the newer e46 diamond shape remote and key. everything from the doors, windows, boot, and memory functions is working just fine like its original from factory.

cost me only about 650 plus ews-dme alignment another 150 for the whole thing. just say byebye to the old easily melted/corroded rubber buttons and big fat lollipop remote key to a sexy and slick one.

not too sure if I am right...did you have to make some police report to make the key?? this for additional key actually...not for key change alone.

hmm... is ur new key got this fcc id: lx8 fzv ? i ordered 1 from ebay. going to configure myself. Will update once got my keys.. keep tuned !

i got one from ebay too, but the remote cant be reinitialized. i went to the dealer for help after that, they said the US remote is running on a different frequency, i was told we must get a german made one with a siemens chip.

bro,i replaced it before....
1st - go to make a police report...
2nd - bring your car reg card, police report & I/C to AB...
3rd - Wait within 2 - 3 weeks time...
4th - RM8xx.xx
5th - collect the key n they will recoding the new key for u FOC...
6th - if UK/Japan Spec then find specialist workshop to help you recoding the new key...

bros.. anymore guys here.. changed the old lollipop key to newer type? My question is.. only the diamond shape fits to E39 or 7 series pop out remote can fit with some progra mming..
