hello,

i noticed e39s tend to have loud engine noise even when idling. when opening up my ride it seems to be caused by the big fan behind the grill. is there a workaround for this? as the noise can be annoying compare to local cars hehe. overall my ride is fine so i dont think there is an issue with the fan.

I believe you are referring to the variable speed electric fan (behind the grille). The other one is the clutch fan (which runs when the engine is running). Usually when the engine is cold, the electric fan shouldn't be running. If the electric fan is running whenever the engine is running (regardless of temp), then something is certainly not right.

What you refer to for the big noise?? Is it the grill touched the fan and cause the noise ?

I had similar loud noise from the fan when idling as it runs continuesly. My mechanic reduce the air-con compressor pressure n the fan stops running. The amount of pressure is mentioned there, hopefully not removed or painted over.
