Hi Guys,Just wondering if any of you have experienced the problem below with E39 M52 single vanos ride :[1] Got rattling noise coming from engine compartment - identified to be near vanos area and compressor, and this only happen with the followings:- Air-con unit is on- Accelerating [even gently], normally happens when above 1,800 rpm- When let go accelerator, the sound will slowly goes off, or- Switching off air-con will remove it even when stepping on accelerator - Rattle noise does not come on all the time when air-con is on and accelerating [headache in troubleshooting][2] The sound is like putting a stick to a rotating fan [ruled out both fans - fans was suspected and has been changed] [3] Compressor has been suspected but then it works fine at various setting when car is idlingAny of you who got any clue or suggestion on what might be the problem?Cheers and Have A Properous Lunar New Year !! hi. most probably is ur aircond compressor or fan belt tensioner. me had sm pblm with u even when stop at traffic light. suka-suka gt tak tak tak. after change compressor no more tak tak tak.

try checking the belt tensioners plus the condition of the belts.

spray some water on the pulleys and see whether the sound goes off... if it does it probably due to either the pulley bearings, belts or tensioners.

Not confident.... head on to your nearest workshop please. :D

anything abt air-cond jes visit naidu and also can have yr car being washed by some ramsing's gals

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the suggestion and info. Just confirmed by AB that it is the compressor.

Besides, I read that the air compressor should be serviced regularly with topping up of lubricating oil to prolong its lifespan. Wonder if any of you has done this before?
