E39 523i VS 525i

Dear all,Can anyone point out the differences of these two models to me. Because as what i know is, both of them are 2.5 little. Thanks!!

the 525i is the updated version..ie facelifted..

If not mistaken, the 2.3 badge still comes in 2.5Ltr but the engine code is M52, which is newer and lighter than the M50 engine (but with the same 2.5 Ltr

1996-1998 (Single Vanos) 170BHP Lower pick up and higher fuel consumption.
1999-2001 (Double Vanos) 170BHP Get more Punch in pick up and lower fuel consumption.

525i-E39 2.5L
2001-2003 (Double Vanos) 192BHP Get even more punch in pick up and lower fuel consumption.

525i-E60 2.5L
2004-2005 (Double Vanos) 192BHP Same as 525i E39 engine.
2005-onwards(Double Vanos+Valtronic) 218BHP Totally new with magnasium head with Valtronic. Very powerfull.

Tried two cars before I must say if you have the moolahs go for the double vanos 525. Power wise a lot of difference.

Buy the 523i..more potnetial for mods and cheaper to maintain in the long run. I real life, with the same final drive ratio, the performance difference is minimal. That is why the had to lower the final drive when the reintorduced the 525i and 325i for better performance.

BOTH 523 &525 [E39] THE TORQE STILL SAME 25 kgm/3500 rpm ,FOR E60 ALSO NO CHANGES.
