P/S - Selling your Monitor Audio front compies on Lelong aah ? :p

My dream set-up... to keep everything simple. A pair of tweeters and mid-range up front and subs in the rear. No other drivers. Have to get the basics right first. Plain old stereo, no surround sound and all that jazz. I am from the old school of thought.

Have yet to figure out what speakers and the best place to place them. Getting my friend to work that out. Too lazy to work that out. Do not want to do anything too radical.

Maybe can get feedbacks from this thread too.

Yes Van, selling. No buyers lah.. Dang it.. Fits nicely into the E36 front speaker pods.

For the E36:
Front speakers - size / location: max 5.25" / kick panel
Front tweets - location : door. But for staging best on dash or A pillar
Rear speakers - size / location: I think you can fit a 6/8" with an MDF board added. If you want to use the ori speaker box for the rears, max 4" I think.

Flash, I am running that. Full active, electronic crossover and Time alignment from the HU. 6 channel amps. I have a pair of puny subs (8") because I needed the boot space for my baby's stroller. The bass goes down to about 50Hz only.

Targetting a Focal 8" sub to give me something to about 35Hz or slightly lower. Fronts, yes, I am selling my Monitor Audio 5.25" front components. For RM400, new about RM1000.

Looking at Eton (to the same speaker pod) or Dyns 240 (need to fabricate to the door panel) or RS Audio Pro or Focal Utopias.

Poison seeping through...

yeeessss... abg affan got the virus aleadi.......

btw...the staging up front by utilizing tweeters in the A pillar?Isnt it
a bit high??rock music type sounds? :(

You guys are all bad ... poison seeping thru indeed. Well, my car comes with stock ICE since that witch ( I still love you ) decided to transfer her ICE back to her old man's car ... Damn !!!

Rite now, this is what I have in hand -

1. HU - Naka MB100 ... Yummy !!!
2. Amp - 4 channel Audioquest Italy
3. Front speakers - tak ada !!!
4. Sub - also tak ada wor !!!

The Monitor Audio compies are sweet sounding drivers ... if their home units are anything to go by. Affan, why sell lar ???

One question though - can I remove the rear speakers and use the void space to channel the sub notes into the cabin. Thinking of a small 10 inch subbie in a sealed enclosure for now.

Cheers fellas.

Already got the virus long ago... and ouch, it is gonna hurt. Gotta start from scratch... HU, speakers, amps, etc. Still waiting for my bonus though.

Do not intend to transfer from my other car...

the Monitor Audios tweets come in metal dome. I want silk dome now. Prefer mellower sound.

Van, I am doing just that. Remove the rear speaker boxes and mount two subs. I use a slim line sub which has an inverted magnet so that I can save space.

Soundstage should be on the windscreen so best to have the tweets there. Many installers who do not use time alignment will play with positioning the tweeters to project the sound over the dash. If you use time alignment, job is much easier

3er, don't start. Hehe... last time I upgraded was 3 years ago. I'm just planning. Really depends on my budget for house reno.

Still holding strong. The baby seat seats firmly in the back seat :p

I have these a/d/s/ comps (extra pair)..... anyone wants em? :)

3er,

Directing your a/d/s flavoured poison at me aah ? Cruel !!!

hi affan66,

has "monitor audio" gone into car speakers? never quite like their stuff... too much gold...

>I use a slim line sub which has an inverted magnet so that I can save space...

illusion audio drivers? good stuff i heard. doubt single 8" focal will be enough. however have heard single 10" focal in sealed enclosure - can live with that... i'm not a bass freak but ended up with an idmax (coz the price was right) and now having trouble figuring out how best to install the damn thing...

back to topic... stock locations (e36 or e34) are never the best for sound quality... but i'll live with that... don't want installers korek here and there...

brgds

IA is one of those folks who use the inverted magnet concept. Affan using IA subs, aah ? Erica, IMHO the IDMax is one of the best kick-a_ss subs out there. Bullet proof construction, superb bass extension and needs just about 400W RMS or so to sing.

Feed them twice that amount, they will not flinch and will really start moving some serious air. The good thing about them - very flexible when it comes to the install location - sealed enclosure, ported enclosure or even IB ( infinite baffle ) Free Air ... they are certified show ( and heart ) stoppers.

Cheers.

i won't sacrifice my already limited bootspace for good bass.

Priorities dudes...

Affan,

Yup ... must make space for the strollers. Though you mite change your mind after you hear an IDMax in full flight !!!

Racun ... jangan tak racun.

P/S : Any website/link for the MA Car 5 compies aah ? Cannot seem to find any on the Yahoo search la. Sent you a PM too.

Cheers.

Hm - I'm beginning to feel the (space) pinch....

Me too... compared to my jalopy, the boot space for an E36 is tiny in comparison. Not sure if my mountain bike can fit into the boot - haven't tried it yet.

Something to really take into account on the subs I intend to get...

May i know what is the suggested speaker size to be fitted for the front and rear without any major modifications??? i found that the front speaker near the kickpanel might be a little bit of a problem...should i go for coaxial or components??? is our standard tweeters good enough or should they be changed also??? thanks a lot...
