e36 Cobra alarm not working....

Hi all, Pls help. I've changed the remote battery but still not functioning. Infact, the inside car alarm light (besides ASC) no light at all. A bit of history, last time car was locked w/ key inside. Luckily, rear boot is open. Called mech and he open the boot cover and car was unlocked. But as far can remember, the problem is intermittently (the alarm light sometime green, sometime red) happened before that. Now, totally disable. I'm in Penang, any good place to recommend? Went to Happy Motor, they suggest acc shop. Went to Brothers, they said, haiyaaa...tukar baru punya alarm system laaa, Cobra x bagus....bg diskaun sama u.... . Went to AB, hv to make appointment, only 'next year' is available......

hmm...if you in KL, i boleh recommend you to go to Cobra Alarm Service Center at Taman Tun Dr Ismail. But Penang, I donno lah..

check your AB service book leaflet. find the alarm authorized dealers numbers..should be there.. sure got one in penang..

I suggest you don't go dealer in penang, Super exspensive !

I pulak suggest you use pad-lock only lar to lock ur car...since u tak pandai guna alarm hehehe...

i went to choo seng w/shop today....once i told him alarm cannot use, he ask me have I check the switch....i was blur and said, what switch??

then he grab the key & remote, open the passenger compartment, put his hand with key inside...pap, suddenly all door is locked.....damn, there is an alarm switch inside the compartment, luckily i didn't throw that tiny key when bought the car, thot was no use.... he he, one year of owned, only now i know about it.....malu nyeerrr, i bed most people didn't know...carik geng laaa..

but he said the switch is kaput, hv to go any acc shop and change it.....will go & check tomorrow...any idea of the price??

mienoz... hahaha, lucky you... when I bought my car, I insisted that the owner gives me a full tutorial on how to operate the alarm, etc, which he obliged... All E36 (well, local CKD AB's at least) came fitted with Cobra alarm.

For those in Penang, there is a COBRA BRANCH in Malacca Street. Since the alarm is already close to 10 years (year 95 to 99) only they have the parts if you wish to repair or replace parts.

do u hv the phone#? went to few acc shop....they dont hv the "so called" COBRA alarm switch...

i've changed the alarm ekey switch, damage as below.....job done by Cobra branch @ Malacca Street, Penang. Thanks to machinehead.. i owe u man!

1. switch - rm130
2. battery - rm20
total - rm150

cobra alarm service in TTDI so damn expensive and no all the staff pro,they all bullshit lot and just mean get u money.go other acc shop more good and cheap.They haven rectified the problem but can give u price to repair.
