Hi all,I am a newbie to this forum, but have had this love affair wit Beemer forever....Finally after all this time, I am finally going to acquire a '95 325i. I am getting a bit worried reading some of the posts the other guys have put up regarding the maintenance costs.... I know some folks who dun really spend a major fortune maintaining the E36...I think it's just a matter of where to get parts & where u service your car...Having said dat, I would like to ask for advise on where I can service my car...Can't afford AB, so I hope dat I can get some help from u guys. Will post up pix once I get my babe  Thanx guys!

Croc,

Dont be unduly worried with some of the postings here(mine included).

However you must understand that you are getting a 12 year old car. How many people do you know that takes care of their cars let alone a 12 year old one!

So should you choose to get a E36 you must be prepared to spend some money to do it up.

I feel that the best way to enjoy the car is to try to get it cash and set aside some money for repairs(unless u r lucky enough to buy the car from someone who has properly maintained the car.)

Invariably due to the age of the car you may need to continue spending money on the car, as and when required so thats why I say try to get the car cash if you can afford.

Otherwise it is a truly rewarding experience for say RM50k.

Hi Anxious,

Thx for your reply & advice. Will complete my purchase by today. I'm gonna go check out another car n then decide today. It's down to a '95 E36 325i, lady owner, full service history by AB. Really well kept, except that it is absolutely stock. I have no probs with that. I can swap out wat I need to later.

That said and done, do you have any tips on where I can find a reliable mechanic, who's not out to suck my blood dry with ridiculous labour charges? What about parts? I know it is cheaper to buy the parts and give it to the mechs. Any place where you guys go to get a better deal?

Pls advise.

Thank you very much for you time :)

I am from Penang so cant help you on the mechanic issue but I'm sure the guys in KL can give you some pointers.

Full service history and stock condition is good. Even better if original paint so you can check for accident damage.

Anyway good luck on your purchase and I hope you get to enjoy your "new"car soon.

Hi Bro... Congrats on you new ride...

I also notice you stay at Bukit Jalil, as I am staying there too.

Many when to two good workshops nearby, will show you the place.
