Hi all,I just change to new wheel recently, 17" Racing Dynamics RGP.The wheel has been sent to repair for dents and wearing these rubbers :Front==========245x40x17ZRRear==========255x40x17ZRJust changed my center TIE ROD and rubber mountingAnd the wooble at 100km/h still exists. What other possible causes ? My only guess, the RGP was from E39 and I will need a hub centric cone for that....Why I think it's from E39 ? My 255 rear tires hit the body is bouncing hard.....and I'm not using any spaver for my +20 ETA wheels.Your help is much appreciated.I have to drive slower or faster than 100-100 km/h region....

Hi bazet. No worries because I have encountered the same problem before. What you have to do is change your long shaft! Do not rework or repair back the shaft through any engineering shops. It wont shake when you are in 100kmh but it will when you are at 140kmh. I bought for my E36 is about RM280.00 from a scrap shop here in JB. Good luck!

does the same solution could b applied to e34??how much isit roughly in kl area?can find in kedai potong eyh?ive been facing the same problem,it's been quite a long time oredi n now it gotten worst since 90kmh oso started shaking..afraid too ask workshop since im new in car n dun wan to kena tipu..luckily i found this forum ;)

If the rims are from E39 then you definitely need a hubcentric ring (cone) coz there's a 1.5mm gap (74-72.5). PM me if you need the cones, I bought extra last time.

dude...i agree with osflanker.check if ur tyre shop guy pasang the hubcentric ring?
if its a normal non bmw expert then my guesses r tht he didnt put in the hubcentric.
good luck all the same dude

Actually it starts to shake violently at about 85km/h. I had the same problem. Replaced every bush and arm, problem still persist. Replaced all wheels, rims and brake rotors, problem still there!!!!!!knnccb!!!!!!
Finally, replaced long shaft center bearing. Problem solved!!!!!!! Much better if you send the long shaft for balancing. I think one of the forummer had done it before.

I have done the long shaft balancing before. Dunno the exact place coz Ah Wai from BM World did it for me. Easiest and cheapest solution to try is the cone first, coz taking out the long shaft ain't as easy as taking out the rims.

Two questions, does it shake only at 90 to 100 km/hr ? If it does, go and ask the your tire mechanic to do "static" balancing. Most of them only does dynamic balancing. I have had this problem for more than a year (after using the 17" rims as well) and finally able to resolve it early this year. One more thing, what tires are you using?

Literally means the wheel are balanced (inside vs outside) when its not moving. When they do on-wheel, thats dynamic balancing.

Most tire shops do static balancing by just moving the tires (there is a mark on the tire, sometimes a red dot) in respect to the wheel position. In some cases, it may not be enough and weights may be needed.

Rgds

I thot the dynamic balancing is the more accurate way to balance the tyres? It wud also take into account any imbalance caused by the brake rotors, etc...

Well, I am no tire specialists but apparently static balancing is the first step to do. IF the mechanic does not rotate the tires and balanced it statically there will be vibrations at the 80-100 km/hr region. If the tire is dynamically unbalanced, the vibration will be continuous.

And I have tried all the "well known" places to resolve my problem to no avail until I met this guy. And he took time to explain it to me. Apparently he has done quite a bit of BMWs.

Can share where u go arrr?? I put up one thread some time ago, no one helping ley....

Can u pls highlight, i got some minor vibrations that i wanna resolve by balancing.

Pls check yr PM.

Thnx.

Fomoco,

Any latest update on this??

Also, I hear abt the tyre shop (Division or Dimension, or something lydat) behind Heritage in OKR that knows beemers, anyone knows that place. Another place is Pirelli (i think) in Glenmarie, as AB sends all their cars there.

Anyone went there in the past?? Any comments??

Well, I did send my car to one tyre shop which is around the same area you mentioned (Sri Manja). There are many other tyre shops in this area too but this particular one was recommended by a fellow forummer. Cannot remember the name of the shop but it had that big Dunlop signboard and faces some houses. Sent to them to check my wheel alignment. They did a good job... and very fast at that too. Now my car tracks straight and true.

When I next have the time, I will let them to balance my wheels too. :D

Oh, they also discovered a "problem" which I had not told them about. The rubber bush for my control arm is quite soft and this causes my babe to veer slightly, either to the left or right when I brake hard from high speeds. Well, I would need to "upgrade" this part when I next have the time and moolahs. Gotta change to harder bushes. Bah, sudah kena "racun" and not by fellow forummers...
