anyone can share voltage behaviour if you've got a volt meter in car? with engine running, highest is 13.8v but what i don't like is the fluctuation... on my e34 usually 13.3 to 13.5 with the normal stereo and air-cond on. on rainy days add lights, wiper and demister sometimes drop until 12.9. turn off demister will almost always bring level back to above 13v.

my opinion, the fluctuation is normal considering it did not deviate from the level recommended. in other means, it did not drop below 12v, it is just indicating the load of the car in terms of wiring, resistivity and inductors, but interesting to see the demister is pulling down the voltage...maybe Sifu's can give better explanation...

it has to do with the battery.. larger capacity is better.. like my se7en, need to use DIN100 only, lesser than that, all sorts of problem, ie. engine idle rough...

500 for what engine bro?

sorry for the late reply, its M20b20...old m20 with 12valves engine..it shud be more expensive for m50 engine

thanks for the posts, i've encountered similar issues, my dash lights for the break, oil pressure and battery comes dimly on n off, occured since my last change of thermostat [that time aircond failure] then few days a go my car went kaput, flat out, [battery was 3-4yrs old] so had it changed, now car running ok, but jus the dimly lit dash light is still there [battery shop guy tested when i changed a new batt din55 for my e30, was told it was ok--is it still alternator issue? since battery is all new now]

any specific alternator? or certain size capacity? or is it one kind of alternator fits all? with all the price hike im tight on budget, any price range i should be conssidering for the alternator?

If it is a new alternator - Bosch...the price very unlikely to be less than RM1600...I think the alternator have few option..depends on the amps...Mine I change to a standard 80 amps...the higher the better...but price also different. I would suggest change to a new one...recond is not advisable.
