last sunday i was just messing around with the rear seat, which was removed for access to the battery compartment.was just looking see if it is cost/worth/time effective to relocate the battery from the front.finally thought it was too cumbersome to do.upon restoration of removed parts, noticed the central locking went kaka do do on me...no working.damn.tried re-setting by locking/unlocking from the pax side...like i normally do when the sucker kaput...nil joy.chkd fuses..ok.chkd the central locking module (under rear seat RH side) all ok...damn...finally just try luck....diconnected battery for 5 secs...voila...fixed.....go figure...

for my problem i mentioned in another thread....i have to double lock...meaning lock once the doors lock and unlocks automatically...then i need to wait say 2 secs then lock again then it finally locks

took to one so called expert....he opened my back seat to check...then looked at the ecu for the central locking....sed it's not the correct one and it was the cause of it....he sed its casing should be green in colour while mine was black.... and its like a gem to find....

Anyone changed their central locking ecu for e34 for before?

This issue discuss a lot unfortunately not here for the solution

Copy from other forum : the old GM works the following principle: If you lock, it sends a signal to lock, and then it gets a feedback info. If no, let's say a microswitch is out of place, there is a feedback that the door is not locked. Then the GM is so polite to remind the driver that something is wrong with his locking and unlocks it again.

I just fix my driver door lock because it refuse to lock, sometimes it took twice to lock or unlock , position of the actuator solve the problem. now I have passenger door to go next time when free to open the door panel ;-)

bro Iqlima.....wat did u fix ...is it the actuator that was faulty? coz my othe rmechanic told me he suspects its tat but no time to fix it then...i hope its because of tat

Position of the actuator (servo), not too far and not too close (subjective ) ............ few mm make big different

Good tips..good tips..., so you decided to relocate your batt?

no lar bro...for these reasons:

1. my big bugger amplifier resides there:)
2. need to route the big gauge cable for the starter motor
3. possibly need to route a negative cable as well for direct connection to the
engine.
4. empty space in engine bay if relocate......hmmmm...maybe can turbo that
feller.....:D

Moots, please refer below for my ideas/suggestions:

1. my big bugger amplifier resides there:)
>> I think is not healty to put your power amp there, very poor ventilation there, your power amp tends to get hot..., your rear passenger backside may get burst if your amp become very "angry'...hehe.

2. need to route the big gauge cable for the starter motor
>> yes, you need to get a very big gauge positive cable for this.

3. possibly need to route a negative cable as well for direct connection to the
engine.
>> I dun think you so lah.., original design by German also dun do that, they just have a short ( about 1 1/2 feet ) negative cable connect to the car body. There is a screw/nut in side that compartment.

4. empty space in engine bay if relocate......hmmmm...maybe can turbo that
feller.....:D
>> That's is a GOOD idea!!! hehe...
