hi there,i am new comer in this blog. i would like to seek some advice from you guys on the E34. I bought a E34 since 2006 and been my weekend car until this year when now become my daily used car. i guess when you used it daily then you see problem arise. last weekend i drove to PD from KL. By the time i reach PD and park my car (turn off engine), the meter suddenly display "engine oil low' - owners handbook. after the car cool down (2 hrs later) i check the oil level and is still at acceptable level (higher 2nd level on the oil rod). no leakage as well. then, i try to run the car again for another 30km and return back to kl the next day, it seems ok. no more sign showing. is this due to the sensor getting old?by the way, when idling the rpm is showing at 700-800 is it normal?TC

Yes and it could also be that you have a loose sensor or dry connecting wires

It's normal if it is idling at one particular spot but should not jump or vary that much between 700-800 unless your ICV a gonner.

Welcome to BMWC TCNG and trust you've done your proper intro's

thanks for the tips. I had check with one of my regular mechanic and according to him, it's most likely due to the oil sensor float is not function well. any idea how much that sensor float cost?

before u replace the sensor try to clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner, mine is fine after clean.
