E32 730iL Poor Acceleration.

How can i improve my E32 730iL ( Auto ) acceleration /pick-up.Can i just change the rear diff to a smaller no./ratio ( is it lower or higher ratio we call them ? )Thanks.:top/s : running 100kph at 2200 rpm.

Th3 M30B30 is rather a bullet proof engine and quite torquey. If the acceleration is slow.... wondering what are You benchmarking it with. it whoudl do a 0-100 around 10-12. if it is that range.. then you should not do anything to it. otherwise... you should check your vacuum hoses and timing sensors. both the cams and the crank. Sometimes the vacuum hoses leak and not giving enough vacuum to advance the timing and thats the main reason M30 loosses its power. otherwise.. like i said before.. M30 is bullet proof.

If all things fail, I may embark on a project.........transplant with 3.5L or 4.0L V8 !

Update: Issue taken care off. I am happy with the take-off acceleration - its already 2 weeks, no problem.

in this order
1) change engine oil&filter, check air filter, check/clean/change spark plugs ,...also adjust throttle cable,
2) check/change dist cap & rotor, inspect plug wires, check/adjust CO2 level, adjust valves..
