Guys, Since its been raining of late, the wipers has been called into action on my trusty old stead more often. I note that in position 1 and 2 - there wiping speeds are IDENTICAL which as per my ori manual says otherwise...and logically too. Position 3 speed is much faster which is acceptable. Can the gurus here shed some lite what's wrong and where is the relay for this speed regulation? I suspect this is the fault but am open to your wisdom. Cheerio.

i have sometime similar but probably worst.... speed 1 works when it feels like it...i guess it has lost its mood lately....speed 2 works most of the time...but will sometimes stop suddenly....and requires me to go on bumpy roads to get it to work again...speed 3 is useless.....

not sure whats the problem...could be a contact issue in the steering column or the wiper motor itself...

hahhaa my speed 1 (intermittent) does not even work. speed 2 (slow) is working and speed 3 is also working. but there are cases where it just loses mood to work.

openup the motor n give the copper track some cleaning...

Mine works except for speed 1, will jam halfway...have to change to speed 2 to get it back into place haha..

thanks guys for replies.....and also reminding me that my old beauty is actually in good nick! ke ke ke

anyone else who can shed some lite on what the real norm is? Factory norm-lar, not x-files, bumpy roads, moody norms! HA HA HA

I'm experienced this before. Most of the time the intermittent one will suddenly stop or at any setting, the wiper won't work. Most of the time, when it is heavy rain. I live with it for almost 6 months.
when to my regular mechanic, explain what happening. He straight go into the workshop, coming out with a used relay (I assumed). The one that fixed inside the fusebox. change it and walla, till today it work.
This happened to me more than a year ago.
Hope it help.

speeds of position 1 and 2 are the same as they go through a resistor circuit

the intermittant position 1 is a delay circuit , while postion 2 doesn't go through this but through the resistor

position 3 is a direct current flowthrough

position 4 is pushdown flick, is the same as 1 and 2 speeds, just a open/closed circuit for a quick flip

position 5 is a pull on the lever automating the windscreen wash, still the same speed as 1,2,4,

position 6 is to activate the headlight wipers and intensive wash....same speeds, even the headlight wipers are syncronised with the windscreen wipers......opppss, this doesnt concern you guys, just for me only....:p

If mine are not working...I'll take my rubber malet and bang the motors.

strider,
thanks....I will try the relay route.
