I,ve also just bought a M40 318i. Ownership experience is great but to rebuild it back to it previous glory, a fair bit of moolah is needed. 1st bill upon collection of car was 3k+to change a few major items including radiator, all the arm bushes, leaking, engine, gear mounting and to fix 2 not functional power window and so on. 2nd bill another 3k plus to change absorber and Eibach spring. 3rd bill- change 4X new tyre Michelin PP2 for about 1.7k. 4th bill refurbish my Alpina rims for RM560 at Hiap Soon. Now it is in the workshop again to change cam, lifters to eliminate the engine noise because have sort of decided to stay with the M40 engine for a while, and since already open up, will change the timing belt too. Also to covert to rear disc brake with new cable and pads plus rear anti roll bar. While the mech is on the job, noticed there are still some leaking for 1 of the oil sill and will change that too. After that, the mech will have to take out my old fibre ac bodykit and to install M-tech BK(bought for 2.2k for the front, back and side skirt, another 350 for the rear spoiler, have to do door panel with Theva later). Would expect this bill to be more than 4.5k. Then have to respray and expected to be around 2.5k or more.... Haha! this toy is definately cost more than my initial bills when I acquired my E39 530i at the begining of the year. But driving satisfaction, for my daily drive now, I still choose my E30 eventhough it is only a 1.8. Now broke and can't join any drive the club organised as much as I wanted to at least for the time being.
