Hi fellow members, the reaosn i ask this question becoz i am tired of paying something that is actually not Necessary at all. Since this is a kind of major work. i would like some advice from all you regarding this mater. So back tothe topic what exactly i need to convert my manual e30 trans to an auto trans. my engine is M20b20 engine.Hope some one can enlighten me. thanks in advance.:)

Actually its manual to auto, so may not be that useful to kac...hmmm usually ppl go auto to manual. Nevermind to each his own.

manual to auto on a 2.0? aiyoh.......prepare to get taupau by 1.6 Hothatches and regret!!!!!!

one advice - DUN!

fuel consumption would suffer and it doesn't move plus for an autobox at this age, u won't know when you'll need to overhaul the box.

i beg to defer that the fuel consumption will suffer.. auto's have much lower rpm on the highways, thus lower consumption..

my 528 gives me 500+ kms. on a full tank of 60L.. in town and highways..

but yours is 2.8 with sufficient torque but for the M20B20, torque may be lacking when mated with autobox.

Is it really very bad for a M20b20 to be auto,......my current manual tranny not so smooth, my car always jerking(but donnow what the cause, several workshop sent but still don't know). If higher engine is it ok, then i would need to buy a full half cut

1. gearbox(complete set with torque converter)
2. brake padel
3. long shaft
4. shifter linkage
5. shifter
6. radiator with g/box oil cooler
7. shifter knob
8. auto console

if you're having problem now but don't know what the cause, what prompted u to change to auto anyway???

auto more economy? wah...puss, u sure must have very lite boots! HE HE HE

Yes, your larger torque helps so must of us lesser souls will have to tekan more to get to speed......i have an auto too although not with a roundel.

Anyhow, just my 2 cents in regards to changing to auto cos everyone has different needs.

actually, it's a good deal.. most of the 325's has an auto box, mostly from japan half cuts come here are auto's , manuals cost much higher..

so in this case, swaping into a auto from a willing manual guy will be a good idea..

Hi Pussy,

How much could you save if convert to Auto? Would the labour cost a bomb?

Geo

Hi i did the reverse ... don't bother to do it. But instead get a b25 half cut. Just my opinion.

I'm currently using an e30 m20b20 auto. Given, the pick-up is not as good as the manual (isn't it the same on all car makes?) but on the highway there's not much difference because you're not doing much shifting anyway. I've also seen e30s using auto boxes with the E,S,M switches.

Eau-rouge forgot to mention a matching diff (your current diff is probably to high).

Anyway, it all boils down to your driving style and taste.

Cheers!

ive done the complete opposite in my e30. from b20 oto to b25 + stik. never been happier in my life :D but my fuel consuption is slightly higher compare to when im using b20+oto box. but who cares..:) me rear tires can smoke when ever i want it :p

btw i still have manual pedal set for sale if anyone interested....
