e30 engine idle level

u guys so lucky.better than mine.myB idling at 1.5k,recently succeed to make it idle at 1.2k only.engine sounds like somepart missing.so noisy..fuel consumption??rm40 for 100km(hiway)what do u tink?not bad ha??

My m20b20 idle 1.3k & with a/cond on drop 1k...engine sound so noisy, everytime went back to hometown (around 90km) i spend rm30 fuel & left a little went arrive, so maybe mkn myk around rm20 somethin',but i feel my engine still not very well due to idle so high,maybe must tuning again or anybody have any idea???????help...help....

probably due to air leak from hoses or the one way valve...or just try the fuel pressure regulator,may be suda x elok

memang susah nak dapat idle sebab banyak benda nak kna check, terutama hose2 vacumm, dan timing distributor terlalu tinggi boleh menyebabkan idle tak cantik, air flow meter kna adjust balik, air fuel mixture kna adjust balik, spark plug kna ganti baru, kete saya pun dekat satu hari baru dapat idle yang cantik, engine idle 850rpm, air-cond around 950-980, tu pun utk air cond saya modified tambah F.I.C.D toyota punya so kita boleh adjust ikut sesuka hati utk idle bila pasang air cond.

haha bro hantubmwe30...buat karangan pertandingan utk idling for e30 ka?haha...btw fyi...brake servo bocor pon bole jadikan takat melahu injin (idling) erratic... so pls check all possibilities.
saya punya pipe vaccum suda pasang terbalik woo...utk rmp atas dan bawah suda salah pasang haha...engine sudah jadi mcm senak bila rmp tinggi and jadi mcm sprinter bila idling...check punya check vaccum hose utk retard and advance distributor terbalik...haha...ini kerja zali tukang cat la...haha

problem solved, changed the ICV, idle control valve..chances are you guys got same problem la kalau berpuluh tahun belum tukar sekali confirm need to change.

after changed it, it was swweeettt...ask the new happy owner RajK now how it is

I think I need to check my ICV too, but there is a L type and T type. May I know which type for which model and years of E30. Anyone can help?

Pull the cable out from the ICV to see if it is two pin or three pin, the L-Jet most likely is the old type (2 pins), while the Montronic also comes with two type (2 & 3 pins).
You can actually measure the resistance to confirm, 9-10 ohm for the 2 pins and 40 ohms for the 3 pins type. ICV controlling the air flow to maintain the RPM to the adjusted range when subjected to extra load.

hope is not too late to ask about this, i am facing idling problem when i switch on the air cond, it will drop and then increase slightly lower during air cond off when idling.

It will also affect [sometime] the car to just die off, when i ram the car, it will drop and the car will shiver sometime it drop too low then die off.

By the way how do i install a FICD, or should it be use, or some other adjustment is needed and where.

Please comment and advice.

if your ICV is more than 15 years old, just do yourself and your car a favour by replacing the thing with a new one.
