e30 engine idle level

can the e30 sifus pls let me know if its normal for my 91 model 5speed manual to idle at 1000rpm?shouldn't it be lower?my mech says it seems high,is it?thanks!

it should be around 750 to 850.

minimum should be 650rpm and maximum 800rpm...else engine runs hot,consumption goes up

Nope - better go for M30 - coz M30 beats M50 flat ... ...

Check CO, ICV (Idle Control Valve), throttle cable/clearance and last but not least AFM (common problem for M40) ..

haha..change engine die la..just bought the car .. i sent it to M1 workshop in Damansara Jaya, i read you forumers say its a good place to send. the guys said they'll check it out and adjust accordingly. so hopefully i'll get the good news tomorrow or in 2 days they're gonna check all the stuff 535i spoke about.

the car i tested and about to buy idles at slightly above 600rpm..but the engine seems to be quite loud..dunno whether it's a problem or a norm..

might be due to the open pod air filter..but idling at 1k sure consume a lot of petrol..

are all the E30's idling the same? is there any diff with 318, 320, 323 and 325?

Thanks bro Zoggee..it's good site for me as a beginner,it be tutorial for me too....what I get from this site the normal idle for e30 is between 750-780 RPM,so my e30 something wrong somewhere lor...heh..heh..must checking again....

Mine idles at 650-700rpm with the aircon off and the car sitting still in N.
Turn on the aircon and it jumps to about 900.

my idle is around 650rpm when aircon off...700 when aircon on
