Dear sifus, over the weekend i opened up my Instrument Panel to change some light bulbs but even with new bulbs, my left signal indicator still doesn't light up and the hand-break light now doesn't even light up...:(Another thing i notice, the light window to the Check Engine light is actually blocked off by a black plastic. How come? Anyone's E30 M40 has the same setup?Appreciate your advice.

1)Probably due to faulty wiring for the signal lights ( check signal handle wires)

2) Were the handbrake lights working before you changed the bulbs?
a) If yes, then you have to open up the cluster and re do the bulb for the lights, sometimes due to NO Contact .

b) If it wasn't working before, then check the wirings( quite hard to trouble shoot). There is a switch at the side of your handbrakes..check it out before you open the cluster again.

e30 m40 does not have OBC. So, no check engine light available for m40 units.

Thanks for the prompt replies!

Dear Jeff, i will try to "play" with the panel again this weekend, and yes the handbreak light works before i did the bulbs replacement :( I have turned every bulbs to their respective contact points.

Dear Elwin, thanks for that valuable info! I was really wondering what happened that my Check Engine light are not available whereas when i read the owner manual it was mentioned. If there's no OBC in M40 engine, if there's anything wrong with my car, how would i be warned leh?

Tab...M40 memang tak ada OBC...which owner's manual did you read??

Anakin, my ride came with a ori owne manual mah! I have reading all about my new ride. I agree with you...without OBC, how do we know when something not right in our car's electronic/ sensors! :( hmm....

How to have the electronics of E36 checked? Where we can do that? I am lost here as I fairly new in KL. Everything here are expensive compare to Kuching. A car check in Kuching is FREE but here most workshop charge.

Anyplace I can send the car I might soon to own to have a health check? Beside Puspakom la.

well, sometimes here depends who you know. it's only fair that mech charge you a small minimal fee to use their g3 machine to diagnose your car. However, you missed out the gathering at sapura whereby there offer free check up on your car.
;)

Aiseh...!! Sayang betul!! Any sifus out there have their very own diagnostic machine at home?? hehehe
