Could someone tell me where i can send my car for a full rewiring? im asking because everywhere i go and ask for quotations they all wanna charge between 15 and 20k is that normal?? see my car the computer is dead, whenever i start my car the wipers go crazy. i definitely need a new fuse box. even though i complaint about this car is my all time favourite its been in the family for the past 23years since it came out.. also my computer likes make noises like a warning kinda like a bell.. well if anyone has anyone has anything please let me know. cheers...

Try contacting these guys

Walloth & Nesch

They are very helpful and may have the wiring harness for your e24. May not be on the catalog on the website but does not hurt to ask. I believe the wiring harnes comes in several parts. Download their full catalog and pricelist - pdf format, and you should be able to see the item, if they have it in stock. If not ask anyway.

Hi Kaiza,

Read about a wiring specialist in Rawang from the CBT Sunday Times. He is supposed to be a good wireman. Name is Nick (03-6091 7041). Try your luck.

Good luck!

15k for wiring? Crazy. There is this chap called Richard in Salak South but I am not too sure how to contact him.

I just did resolved some of the long standing wiring problem on my E23. The wireman is from Subang Industrial area. Labour rate is very reasonable. One of the member did a conversion from manual to auto and this guy did a very nice job in the wiring for the auto transmission/gearshift/VDO. If you are keen to check him out, PM me for his contact. His shop has one unit of E30 converted to M50 waiting for the completion of the wiring work.

thank u for all the info. ok i'm a bit of lead foot, so im always speeding but everytime the car is stationary theres a sort like a clanking sound from underneath ive checked the long shaft mounting, engine mounting but cant seem to find where the noise is coming from.. can anyone recommend me what i can i do for my exhaust system i really would like to change it, but dont know what is best for my car?

Hmm, clanking sound at stationary. That's very strange. Are you mean to say when you car about to come to statonary, there is a clanking sound. If that's the case, I think it is your rear axle. I also have this problem but all mechanic I spoke to told me to ignore it. It is common for rear axle for E23/E24 to have this problem. It not worth fixing it and it is probably cheaper to find a 2nd hand unit (if you can still find a good condition 2nd hand unit).

As for the exhaust, are you looking for cat back or are you looking to replace the whole exhause system (from the extractor all the way to the muffler box). I know another E23 owner replaced his entired exhaust system. That exhaust workshop is in the same area as the wireman I mentioned above.

It's either ur clutch bearing or ur gearbox input shaft's
idle bearing...

I believe when ur car is cold, there is no noise or less, right?

thanks for the info.. well the rear axle i had already chenged it begining of this year. for the exhaust system i would like to change the whole lot. Wolverine yes the car is not noisy at all when the car is cold, but it only gets noisy after i have been speeding. my gearbox is leaking at the moment so do u guys think i should fix it or change the lot??

15-20k just for rewiring is crazy... why not opt for a standalone ecu that comes along with new wiring? Don't know if it fits the 6 series but I've checked with the guys at Microtech and indeed they can be used for BMW. The price is also reasonable, approx RM4000+ for a new standalone ecu (tunable) and new set of wiring.

I guess AB(Auto Bavaria) meant to give you a new set of wiring on top of labour charges for 15k. But seriously you know how they charge for things sometimes. I wouldn't recommend sending your car there unless it's less than 5 years old. Anything older then you are much better off with the older skool type workshops. I guess if you are really serious about rewiring your car maybe go to Bavarian Auto or even Stuttgart and order a new set of wiring through Mobile Tradition and then bring the wiring harness to get it installed at your regular BMW specialist. You would save at least 5k off what AB quoted you.

Mazin aka whl

I agree with whl, sound advise. Another option is instead of re-wiring the whole car, maybe u can just rewire worn and broken wiring. Some wires may still be in good condition. For 15k the wires better be made of gold :D If I had a choice I wouldn't go for stock wiring since the price of a new set of standalone ecu + wiring costs less & it's fully programmable. Certain models even have traction control.

15k...you'll probably get a complete e24 halfcut complete with wiring, ecu..etc etc.

With plenty of spare cash to mod..too :eek:k:
