Hi guyz I'm driving BMW e39 528I end 1996, .How do I check does this model comes with Single or Double vanos.And what does the +m and -S function is all about.

I think not mistaken 1999 onwards comes with Double Vanos with M52TU.

As I was searching for these pictures, I noticed that part of the reason why for double VANOS engines, the coolant expansion tank was relocated to a separate tank behind the driver side (LHD) strut tower is because the exhaust VANOS seems to take up the space where the old coolant tank attached to the radiator would be. Not 100% sure that is always the case, but it seems to make sense. So, if that were true, then you can see if you have a separate coolant expension tank behind the driver's side strut tower, and if so, you're likely to have double VANOS.
