Update on this sad story. Went back to Johor to ransom the car out of the shop and found that my car had been removed from the street and was locked up behind a grill (with 3 other beemers) in a separate shop that appeared to be used only for storing customers cars. They had disassembled the entire steering column and electrical wiring on the steering column (see picture) in order to move it into their lockup.

Paid the ransom (RM 1000 more than quoted) and got the car back but not running good at all, so took it to my regular shop in PJ and found a couple of things wrong as soon as the computer was hooked up:
1. #6 cyl misfiring due to bad ignition coil
2. ABS pump not working so ABS not working
3. Front airbag not working.
Ok opened up the hood to replace the coil and found that although I was charged RM96 for a set of spark plugs the plugs were not new (see the picture below) so stated checking and found that the supposedly new oil they had put in the car was very thin, dark and gritty so changed it with only 250 kms since new. Hmmmm... It only took 5 liters to fill not 8 as they had charged me!

Did a bit more checking and found that none of the tail lights were working and lots of other minor stuff like a missing cover for the front tow points, a missing BBB logo from one of the rims, all the stainless valve caps gone. rear skirt damaged etc.
Really Guys if your car breaks down in Johor load it up on a carrier and haul it back rather than take it to M-one in Skudai.
Interesting anecdote - I had to take the bus from KL to JB and sat next to a lady who happened to be going to the same shop for the same reason and had the same story to tell.
