Quoted RM1500 for a repair job on my E34 charged 2500! Why?They broke off the coolant temperature sensor and charged me RM175 to replace itTold them to put in Shell oil, they put in BP instead and charged me for 8 liters which is more than a 520 sump holds. They charged me RM96 for a set of sparkplugs that I can buy for RM36.Charged labor at RM750 for 15 man hoursCharged RM550 for a gasket set that is available retail for RM400Not at all willing to discuss anything.I agree to settle for RM2000 but they refused and impounded my car so this is going to court. There are plenty of good honest BMW workshops around - no need to go to bandits like these guys.

You are not the 1st who complain about this workshop.

U bring the case to tribunal?

Did they have a court warrant to impound your car? Was it through legal means to seize and hold your car?

Damn sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will get your ride back soon.

You do not need a court warrant, whatever that means, to so call impound the car. It's called having a lien. Workshops have such a right. So now the headache starts. Go court etc. let's see how the explain 8 liters of oil ... That's a great start for them.

because of 500 difference, you want to leave your car in the workshop?

Guess what will happened to your car later?

Settle the bill first and take the car away.

You can file a tribunal later with the receipt as evidence. Make sure you all the "document" to build up your case.

which one is the shop bro? its a risk leaving your car to them

Agree with Jarance, should take back the car first, then only take legal action.

..as papa Jarance said..leaving vehicle there is big no no..

Is this M One in JB related or owned by the M1 in Kayu Ara/Segambut? Can anybody verify?

Thanks for all the replies and advice - I agree that they will likely damage the car if I leave it there long so I will have to pay the pirates their loot.

I dont think they are related to each other.

M One own by family members.

Update on this sad story. Went back to Johor to ransom the car out of the shop and found that my car had been removed from the street and was locked up behind a grill (with 3 other beemers) in a separate shop that appeared to be used only for storing customers cars. They had disassembled the entire steering column and electrical wiring on the steering column (see picture) in order to move it into their lockup.

Paid the ransom (RM 1000 more than quoted) and got the car back but not running good at all, so took it to my regular shop in PJ and found a couple of things wrong as soon as the computer was hooked up:

1. #6 cyl misfiring due to bad ignition coil
2. ABS pump not working so ABS not working
3. Front airbag not working.

Ok opened up the hood to replace the coil and found that although I was charged RM96 for a set of spark plugs the plugs were not new (see the picture below) so stated checking and found that the supposedly new oil they had put in the car was very thin, dark and gritty so changed it with only 250 kms since new. Hmmmm... It only took 5 liters to fill not 8 as they had charged me!

Did a bit more checking and found that none of the tail lights were working and lots of other minor stuff like a missing cover for the front tow points, a missing BBB logo from one of the rims, all the stainless valve caps gone. rear skirt damaged etc.

Really Guys if your car breaks down in Johor load it up on a carrier and haul it back rather than take it to M-one in Skudai.

Interesting anecdote - I had to take the bus from KL to JB and sat next to a lady who happened to be going to the same shop for the same reason and had the same story to tell.

I won't be surprise other parts in your car were taken out and swapped with de-graded ones.

This is what we call "jodoh". U should consider this lady if u still single..:4:

Sorry to hear your story.
Chnaged my auto gear oil with them once. "Parang" banyak panjang. Luckily i was waiting there when they service my car.

When i service my car one guy was complaining about error message after service. Which is not there when he send the car.
The mech say ecu need to change:eek:
But there are customers who still send thier cars there.

One service at M-One is enough to last me for a lifetime.

My temperature gauge was working fine when the car went into their shop but they charged me RM175 plus labor for a new sensor. When I complained I was told that the blown head gasket had allowed oil into the coolant which ruined the sensor. I told them that was total bull***t and asked for the old sensor back, which he gave to me - broken in half. IMO the truth in advertising laws should force them to change their name to Pirates Lair.
