Fellow UNKERS 5er.. :p Have anybody have done on DIY basis to reset service check lamp and DIY engine oil replacement ?I have read "overseas" owner have done this by themself. And I think engine oil+filter+coolent does not need to rely on "authorised workshop" to do this.. This is regular maintainance stuff and I would like to have hands-on.Any comment or expert advice before i really done it?Engine Oil 10W50 is OK right.. hot climate in M'sia 20W50 should even be better kan.. kan.. ?? btw.. i have read previous forum.. as long as I service regularly (10K).. So, i dont have to really buy branded and expensive longlife 0W50 engine oil.. betul ka?Cheers..

arec, ur car still under warranty? if it is DIY servicing should void the warranty.

If its not then no worries. You are right. Simple thing like servicing is not issue. The only thing is that the unless you have access to the proper equipment you will not be able to hook up to on board computer and check if everything is ok but other than that no issue.

There are two types of service though. One warning will come up "Oil Service" (I think) and the other "Inspection". Basically same basic servicing but with additional items to check and replace.

Service reset:

Good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks for the links Bro. Seech..

My ride is not under warranty.. So, I would try myself and let everybody know the result on my next service due.

I am hoping to have a guide from someone who actually have done it.
Any risk on damaging the ECU ??? That is what i want to avoid..

tell me first how do catch the oil below the sump, full 7.5L ? and dispose it..
suppose you do, how do you open the oil nut.. you have a arm clearance of wench clearance..need to borrow a hoist ?

get real.. sent it to a proper mechanic..
