Difference between 2010 and 2012 320d

Hi guys,Just want to check, is there any difference between 2010 and 2012 320d?? I only have the vin number of 2012 320d and the engine type is shown as N47T (i assume T stands for technical update). Does the 2010 320d come with the same engine (N47T)? And another thing, from my understanding, there are two types of 320d, one has higher h/p (pls correct me if I am wrong). How do I know if the engine has a higher h/p? I checked using online vin decoder and it shows 135 (not sure what measurement unit is used).

upon further investigation (actually i got it from wikipedia, just wanted to sound smart ), there are 3 type of engines:-

2007-2010 (175 bhp)
2010- (181 bhp)
2010- (161 bhp)(EfficientDynamics)

So does a 2010 one comes with 175 bhp or 181 bhp? Also does it come with 161 bhp if its listed as EfficientDynamics?

alright, i think i have figured it out, the 2012 320d has 181bhp (the vin decoder site shows power kilowatt). I would really appreciate it if someone could share their 2010 320d vin number via PM(just the last 7 digits).

Whatever shown on Wiki may not be applicable to Malaysia as specs are mostly for the US and Europe. Basically 2 versions of E90 320d are available on our shore, earlier ones (2009-May 2010 manufactured) are 177bhp while the ones after that (right until F30 was launched) are 184bhp versions, which I was informed & based on various research made, comes with an uprated torque converter as well, which allows the addition of PPK for diesels. All are M-Sport kitted. End 2010 or 2011 onward ones comes with the i-Drive.


Easiest way to distinguish them are via VIN decoder or by looking at the engine cover. For VIN, power shown for 177bhp is 130 while 184bhp is 135. For engine cover visual difference, 177bhp ones have the "BMW" words in white while 184bhp ones are in black. This is based on my observation. Correct me if I am wrong.

Not entirely sure about that but was told that 2011 ones has it.
