This is my current project that i am working on it now. Anyone here keen to share thier side of point of view ?? The power gain is abt 5 hp to 7 hp. Shd able to feel the pulling power after the convertion. Pls feel free to throw in you opinion. TQ

After u finish with ur project can u help me to do on my car ... Thanx in advance

wah so quiet in this threat !!!!!

Any sifu or forummer care to share opinion ?????

No worries, this is open discussion......if you wrong, No one will shot you one lah.:D :D

Brainstorm.........pls...........pls.:p :p

Here is my list of parts that i have in hand now.....

1) 2 speed electric fan (i think 13" Dia) . Remove from halfcut EVO.

2) 1 pc of temperature switch 88C / 80C

Options:

1) Metal impeller water pump.

2) Metal Thermostat Housing

3) Change thermostat to 71C

other still discuss with mechanics.........

Project may kick off this weekend if everything have in hand.......

it's a popular mod with the guys in the UK. But even they say, its not recommended for guys the live in a tropial country. Worst still if you do a lot of stop start drving. There's even a kit out to help you do the conversion, but thought about it, but decided not to.

I've done a mod to my e23 running on 3 electric fans... keeps the old girl cool in hot and crazy KL traffic... One being the original ac fan in front and 2 behind the radiator sourced from a Mitsubishi Galant..

Also u need to ensure that your alternator is up to the job, am using a 140amp alternator from the e32 to ensure there's enough juice...

Interesting set up, can you shot one picture of it ? Which Galant you refering too ?
Is the fans have one speed all time ?

It's the Japanese equivalent of the Perdana.. The front fan has 2 speeds, the other 2 run on constant hi-speed only..

e3six, is your mod done? how is the temperature like in start/stop traffic jam situation? any pictures you can share with the forum?

Alright ! Job is completed. Test drive over weekend, so far so good. Hopely cont' to be good. Temperature indicator showing same as b4.

Total job done took abt 3 - 4 hr, because i want a perfect job.

Power improved can feel it immediately......! and butt dyno definately can feet it as well.

Forgot to take some pic during the mod, but later will try take where the electric fan installed.

Over all, i think worth for money spend.

list of parts and cost:-

1) Electric fans rm30 ( Fren shop give cheap-cheap )

2) Temperature switch ( from chop shop free )

3) Wire, Relays and Labor total is rm80.

Note: Those part like water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing is not part of this project bcos under regular maintenance cost.

Pls ensure your mechanics know what exactly he is doing for your mod......if not "U will be Fack".

Good Luck.

haiya.. u put that fans in your car.. got space ar ? tell you what, when the fans kaput, one speed not working or the relay/ fuse blow, dun ask me for half-cut here..

btw, when you stop and buy mee, then when u return and start your car, tell me what's the tempreture reading ? more than half ? is the electric fan's kicking in once u Acc on ?

tell you what, the car's performance will sucks, battery water will go damn fast, your lights will dim once the both fans kick in at second speed, u will have more vibrations, and when the fans fail, u will be stranded !!

how i know ? been there, done it.. threw out the fans after 1 week !!

just my experince..

E3six, dun get angry.. be just careful what you are doing..

regards.

Dun marah me lah sifu.......job already done then see how lor !!!! No pain no game mah hehe.........

As manner of fact, after installation completed, i had idle for abt 1 hr to see the fan runing as what its suppose to perform and saw temperature still remain same as b4. Of course i still very worries if the fan fail all the sudden.

The fan operate when AC turn on ( follow the compressor kick on / off ). Even if the AC off, the fan still will kick "ON" when temperature reach 80C which i had change temperature switch to 80 / 88.

Oh good to know, i might have to change to bigger ampere battery. In order to support all the juice it need.

I never get angry with u, you know i always sayang u kau-kau one....heheh!!!!!

Anyone care to feedback my mod....pls welcome !!!!

KKO, buy a couple of REDLINE water wetter to increase the heat dissipation efficiency. It will help.

u need a higher output alternator for more load...

Current alternator is 140 amp, izit sufficient enought ? I also intsall volt meter to monitor the voltage. So far can see drop 12 volt to abt 11 - 11.5 volt when both fans keep "ON".

OK.

i still observe the situation, if everything running well in a week or two, may get redline for it.

11 to 11.5V is on the low side. Were the head lights on? ICE??

Maybe put in a capacitor bank??:) :D
