Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum. Currently driving a scirocco and thinking of ditching 2 doors for more practical 4 doors. Contemplating a 2012/2013 320d from BMW Premium Selection. Has clocked 75000km.

I've test driven the car twice and everything seems to be in order. No major clatter. Paintwork still good. Interior is clean. And this is all before they have even done their 360 technical check

My questions now are...

1) How reliable is it to get a car that has already clocked 75000km?

2) Should I continue with the BSRI (up to 100000km which will include 2 more service - and according to SA, will include one change of brake pads and disc brakes, is this true?)

3) or change to the 1 year Premium Selection Warranty?

With a very heavy heart I'm letting go of my scirocco but I'm still undecided regarding getting on the BMW bandwagon or just go back to Jap cars for fear of unreliability and expensive maintenance.

Cheers and thank you all in advance for your thoughts!

About 176k

But new car interest rate
Still under bsri / premium selection warranty
18 inch msport rim with new conti run flats
Nice xxyy number plate probably worth 3000?

Think those offset about 10k?

Or should I hunt some more?

Abit worried abt getting second hand so getting from a second hand car dealer is even more scary for me.

75000 KM is indeed quite high. I have a 2012 320d and its a daily drive which I feel I'm clocking quite a fair bit compared to my peers, and even that I've done 67,000. Nevertheless, sometimes the 360 check may not reveal anything and shit can happen anytime, so best is to get the warranty.

How often do disc brakes and pads need to be changed? And how much are the service fees at 75000 and 90000? Was told f30 diesels have a 15k km service interval.

So I should opt for the warranty and forgo the bsri?

Trying to weigh the pros and cons.

My 2012 scirocco is at 90000km now. This 75000km for a 2013 registered car is indeed much higher than average

Many 2012 F30 owners hav enjoyed more than 100k km of driving pleasure.
I wld take extended warranty over BSRI. But if u r negotiating, try ask for both.. sales r slow.. u can never know..

Thanks M. I'll consider taking the extended warranty.

The SA kept telling me to take the BSRI coz it's more 'worth it' but reading on premium selection website, there is a choice to extend warranty for another 24 months.

But sa was unable to tell me how that works...

Probably another case of perfect car, poor SA?

Another option is to wait for another 6 months when they have a pre-reg car 2015 to be sold in Jan 2016, that will come with 5 years warranty for peace of mind. It might be 20% more expensive but in terms of down payment and installment would not be that much. The LCI would be out by then so chances that you'll get more discount for pre-LCI units.

I've clocked 12k km so far within 4 months, car is running without a glitch and now with PPK it's already more than enough for daily driving.

...and probably at the end of the year we might see the launch of the CBU LCI F30 also...

Thing is, budget does not permit. So lci confirm way out of budget

That's why I was looking at pre owned.

Went to glenmarie premium selection today. Got a few msport models going for 235k. Dilemma now although the massive 60k difference is a killer...

If budget is the problem then the 176k 320d would seem to be the only choice for u bro. Just take the warranty for any unfortunate event something breaks then you can gave it replaced for free.

75k u guys already considered as high mileage!!?? this is a diesel car la, of course the mileage will be higher compared to petrol! very rarely you can find a low mileage diesel. BTW if BSRI doesn't include warranty, then i wouldn't extend it. 320d parts are not that expensive.

Sean,

Yes no matter how i look at it, seems to be the best deal now. And the car is pretty immaculate.

Gimli (LOTR fan? Haha... my nick is from Middle Earth too),
The BSRI is still valid from the previous owner, until 2018 or 100k km, whichever comes first. so the SA is advising me to stick with it since he keeps saying the BSRI can act as a warranty coverage too (although I know for sure BSRI is not equivalent to warranty).

He says that I can opt for BMW one year warranty since it's under premium selection. But according to Glenmarie, BPS cars are usually never older than a year. Anyhow, if I opt for the one year warranty, I'll lose the BSRI meaning I'll lose the free service at 90k km which he says will include brake pads and disc brakes so he says it's more worthwhile continuing the BSRI.

Could be he's asking me to continue the BSRI coz there's no such thing as a 1 year BPS warranty since this car isn't BPS...

So I dunno which SA is BSing me... Seems to be alot of confusion going around and no one can tell me for sure what is what...

It sounds like a good deal to me. Get the warranty. The bsri is limited by mileage which to me makes it less desirable.

Cool. Everyone seems to opt for the warranty instead of the bsri

How much do brake pads and disc brake changes usually cost?

most of the wear tear parts for the 320d are quite reasonably priced if you were to buy it from outside. Try calling up bavarian auto. I think OEM brake pads should be about RM400. Not sure about the disc brake.

so i would forgo the bsri and get the 1 year warranty. Anyhow if you eventually do get the car, I highly recommend changing the ATF and diesel filter. Auto Bavaria will charge you about RM450 for the diesel filter (if you buy from bavarian its about RM150) and will refuse to change the ATF :stupid:

oic

cool cool... thanks for the tips!

was told it is a pre reg car... so i'm technically 3rd owner... not sure if it's wise to go for it still... hmm

otherwise the car is in good order based on their 360 check
