cobra alarm - missing control

hi people...my e36 318 cobra alarm... the control is missing... the owner can't find it...i took it to the TTDI cobra alarm service centre... the guy in carge told me cannot be done cause only bmw has the code... is it true ??if so then i need to take it to autobavaria is it?anyone experience this before? price? any other details?thanks

I believe can change the receiver unit. That's what I did, out of security reason coz previous owner can only give me on remote control.

Yes, changing the receiver is like fitting a new alarm (slightly less cost).

Better do it for your own peace of mind.

actually we know the owner very very well. so i doubt they wanna steal our car.
