I'll illustrate by my kit kat story. Go to KLIA and buy some made in Germany Kit Kat. Proceed to Giant and buy some made in Malaysia kit kat. Taste them and judge yourself.

Too manu variable to answer. There are differences in equipment levels and suspected reliability. You will get a wide range of responses on this. Best you narrow it down to a specific model and model year.

CKD BMW = Glorified Proton in quality but prices are quite cheap compared to recond cars. Service history is an added advantage. Autobavaria is willing to service anytime.

BMW UK spec = Very popular. High demand and therefore translate to higher prices despite less accessories than Japan spec (no electric seat, no TV monitor, no DVD NAV). Weakness - rust. Especially, underbody area.

BMW Japan spec = High in the accessories department (two electric seats, TV screen, DVD NAV, sunroof, rear window blind, on board computer). Prices are cheaper than UK spec. Less rust or sometimes no rust at all. Weakness - radio can tune up to certain frequencies (modification required).

Whatever the spec, the car condition speaks for itself. Make sure the chasis number versus production year is correct too.

Hahaha, laughing when I read. Yes, quite funny. I hate Malaysian kit kat. Australian / NZ chocolates are good. Malaysian Kit Kat made for Malaysian weather, to withstand transportation in heat, not creamy at all.

But for BMW, most parts the same. I also hear CKD windshield is lower quality compared with CBU. But quality of assembly - another hahaha.

Why is it that after all these years, "made in malaysia" still gives us a lot of doubt???

Hyundai started not long before Proton but look at where Hyundai is now while Proton still remains 100% people's car (people subsidized car):2:

Funfer_fahrir..4 your opinion which cars better/worth to buy between recond from japan or UK??

Add a little info:

CKD/ UK spec - rectangular car plate holder for boot (i personally think this suits our cars better)
Japan - square car plate holder for boot

Am thinking of going for Jap spec e90. Good choice? Or should I go for UK spec over this? The salesman also said that UK spec's underbody tends to rust more but the Jap Spec e90 have very little equipment too.....
