Since yesterday, my e39 has keep on indicating "Check Coolant Level". When I checked, water level is ok.This doesn't come on all the times, only when the car go slow or moving about 1/2 hour, the indicating light will be on. Sometimes, it just go off by itself.Anybody experience that?? What to check? Could it be the sensor?

It could be the sensor. The E39 has many sensors and they can go wrong. I have had similar problems with "Check Engine Oil Level" and "Check Brake Lights" even though there were no problems as indicated. In your case, if the message is genuine, you should also see a corresponding increase in temperature. If not, it is probably the sensor.

hello there,
this had happened to my e36.
if everything seems ok..(temperature,water level,etc),
b4 u do anything,
maybe u can take a look at the two cylinder-shape metal (connecting the radiator to the sensor)which attached to the radiator (if urs is similar to e36,it is on the bottom left side of the radiator).
Mine, both are a little bit loose. After tightening them,e'thing back to normal.
Maybe this can help...*sorry,i'm not very familiar with e39! :p

Many thanks guys! Yes, it's the sensor's problem. After changing it, everything seems ok.
