Wondering if others here have the same issue....Decided to pump about 26lits of Shell yesterday to try and lo and behold this morning Check Engine light came on (was on Petronas since I got the car)..stopped and went for lunch just now and light disappeared. Engine idled normally but can feel slight loss in power during acceleration runs...the 'push factor' isnt as strong as it use to be...It could be psychological but could different brands (with different additives) cause this? I am running the N42 engine....mileage 92k...just serviced but the spark plugs are still the original BMW (NGK) ones which the mech says can still be used...could it be this?Gonna check in the car with the dealer tomorrow for checkup and to replace the oustanding psteering pipes and power window guides...Appreciate any feedback...thanks bros ;)

I've been using Shell since i got my car... yet to use other brands... steady mileage & power so far..
tried different brands of fuels on my other car (not BMW), had power change issue like you mentioned above... 'the push factor' ...
it could be the issue of different additives too...
would like to know more about fuel for UDM preferred by majority owners here....

Always been pumping Petronas which gives the best milleage. The same for my other Japanese ride. Tried BHP, same power lesser mileage.

Never been pumping Shell since ages ago as power is obviously lacking and no improvement in milleage compared to Petronas.

yeah come to think of it, will be sticking back to Petronas...oh I changed my sparkies...the 92k km ORI BMW NGK ones were pitted...:(...got BOSCH FGR 7DQP @ Bavarian for RM 18/piece...

car is wayyy smoother now, power wise still so so, guess ECU needs to adapt...cant wait to go back to PRIMAX :)

ok quick update...the dealer plugged my unit in and retuned it..apparently it was misfiring? or something...so now its ok...off-ac...the low revs do not vibrate that bad anymore.....car pickup is better.

Hopefully this resolves the check engine light. :)..all in FOC coz part of warranty

thru my findings

petronas best among all for performance n highway..but city drive bit high consumption..but not much.

shell best for all rounder..averange in all..performance.mileage.city n highway drive.

exxon mobil..best for mileage in town but not much power

caltex..good for cleaning the carbon in ur engine..can feel smooth ride but no power

bhp..almost like caltex..but sometime bit jerky maybe because this fuel are not so saleable so like not fresh fuel..

just my 2cents

I diligently record all my mileage everytime I fill up. My record shows that Petronas gives a much better mileage than Shell. Its the best so far.
