Do not remove your catalytic converter....your car will go nuts!

Google: closed loop EFI systems for further clarification

All bmw xhaust systems have been designed, engineered and bench-tested to give your engine the best balance of power, torque and economy.

Aftermarket xhaust only work if you have done internal modifications(pistons, cams, etc) to your engine. Standard engines will recieve NO benefits especially if you are running on automatic transmission. You will experience loss of power and increase in fuel consumption.

is it ok if we remove this cat for extra performance? normally most of japanese car with exhaust modification without cat. i'm thinking to remove my cat and change my silencer for extra sound and performance..basic modification= ( performance AIR inlet and exhaust modification ). too silence is not my taste..( got fire up after watching this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stbly8CiA-w ). need some advice too..

Bro dis is a touring car...the engine cost more than a e90 320i to build....that's why it sound like a monster. FYI these engines usually have only one or two piston rings and have to be completely stripped down after 800kms of use.

my friend using high cam for his 320i and sound like this monster..idling also can hear the beast sound with exhaust modification..

so the conclusion, if the cat were damaged/failed, what should we do? spend a bunch of money to replace the cat or any other solution?

Actually, taking bout environmental. I believe that doesnt matter. If u guys really wanna screw terry because hes not replacing the new converter, well its better to go for our LORRIES,BUSES, MOTORBIKES,FACTORIES etc. Without cat converter will surely give u slightly more power on pick up. BMW build it for environment control purpose, im sure it will not make ur engine go crazy like that guy said. Our bmw is fully controlled by ECU or OBC. Well, its better to ask ur workshop the pros and cons of taking out CC. Sometimes we cant 100% rely on people's idea or diff info. Cause every single driver have their own driving skills and attitude. U must test it for sometimes, if there is nothing much different without having CC, then u should get rid of it. Just my oppinion.

besides, i m not taking it out for nothing..it s faulty and giving me check engine light indicator (which i found annoying!) haha

easy. Giving problem, cut it out. Test drive for a while, check your performance, FC and etc. If happy, keep going. If giving problems, replace with new ones or back to square one, it does not cost much to cut them out.
